Okay, it's very early days, but I've made a start on a game which I'm
probably going to call 'Balloon Popper'.
It's really going to be several different games - between 6 and 12 of them depending on time constraints (currently hoping for 8 ).
Here's a quick video of the beginnings of Level 1, all placeholder graphics of course, and obviously the finished version won't look anything like this.
Idea being the player must stop the balloons reaching the top or else a life is lost.
There's a really nagging issue looming on the horizon... it's called Windows Defender falsely flagging my programs as malware and automatically deleting the friggin' EXE. It did this yesterday with my recently revitalized 'Crystal Hunter' game. It's a real pisser. The EXE was clean (and passed unscathed through all the major anti-malware scanners except for Windoze Defender). Anyway others here who produce non-code-signed EXEs must suffer the same problem from time to time?
That's rad ... I'm currently stuck between 6 game ideas while working on 4 of them at once.
excellent concept - well done :)
Cool start. :)
MrmediamanX, iWasAdam, Amon... cheers guys :)
Gotta stay motivated this time around.
Cool and realistic movement with the balloons. 8)

Thx. I'll soon have them proper exploding, too! :)
(I've even had to write a new graphics plotter in C called
PlotRotateScaleTintBlend --
phew! -- to implement the effect)
A nice short snappy name ::)
Particle effects are always a welcome addition though.
That is a brilliant idea! Well done
I like the concept of this. One of those simple games you can easily get lost in and before you know it you've spent 30 minutes popping balloons :))
Concept 'art' for 8 mini-games that that will (hopefully) comprise my entry. It's all about balloon popping and scoring well enough to be considered for a prestigious full-time, Government-backed role in Tactical Balloon Popping (a much-needed capability that will be required for the coming war with a certain, very big East Asian country). The intrepid player plays the role of someone who has always aspired to becoming a professional Balloon Popper. Does s(he) have what it takes to make the grade? Don't forget that coming war...
As far as concept art goes, it's right up there with Adam's, innit? ;D
You won't know what the heck's going on here, but not to worry because... neither do I much. :-[
There is nothing i like better than a hand drawn game design doco. I don't know why, but i luv 'em.
I'm giving myself until October 1st to gain enough proficiency with Inkscape to be able to draw most of the graphics for my game. I'm quite new to Inkscape which is a vector-based art package, although I did dabble with it a few years ago and have since forgotten absolutely everything I learnt! It's quite a learning curve.
Anyway, until October 1st all graphics are placeholders for the 'real things' to give me something to work with.
Attached is one such placeholder - my first attempt at drawing a balloon with Inkscape! Much to learn have I :D
I do like the non-destructive way of drawing and how everything can be tweaked.
Two of the game's 8 'Challenges' should be done and dusted by Sunday night, so I can get on with the remaining 6.
Graphics, colours etc are placeholders.
Game runs at a smooth 60 fps but the recording is crappy...
I'm too far behind with this project - I won't make the deadline. I'll hopefully finish my game before the year's out.
Good luck to the remaining participants who are still making a go of it.

Still 3 weeks to go, you can make it. You don't need 8 games - only one :)
There's still time, but if you have to do what you have to do, then that's fair.
