Orbiting camera and atmosphere

I had an idea a long time ago, pre-Blitz3D days about a game where instead of rotating the camera around the game world - to try and build an actual rotating atmosphere where the camera simply follows a fully functional planet around a sun.  Tossed together a simple concept and after the competition is over and I have a little more time I'll release the demo, eventually this will become a tower defense game but utilizing the planet rotation concept.

Actually, it's incredibly unrealistic though - as it obeys hardly no laws of physics. Gameplay has a way of doing that to simulation/concept demos.  I have however learned an important lesson - don't mix fictional gameplay with a real world simulations.  :)

The concept of your game and the image you've shown looks awesome, I'd a similar idea with a camera following a decreasing spiral trajectory against some random generated borg like cubes, using a game of life algorhythm a while bag.  Never quite sussed the complications of the cameras movement though, it was in Blitz3D.

Thanks 3DzForMe,  if you can recall a Microsoft game that came out back in the 90's called Free Space. ( https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-mediavps-for-freespace-2/images/a-few-older-screenshots1 ).

This is the bases of the oribital gameplay I'm going to shoot for. At this point I'm really just into the concept and planning stage, but it's heavy on my mind and I want so bad to do a project like this in the very near future :).

Have a wondeful day in coding land !

Not much time for coding today, was in Roller Derby land (as a spectator!). Defo getting some coding in tomorrow though!
