Hello! I've made significant progress the past few months on my game. Hoping to stir up some interest before the Demo release later this year. Thank you to all who have followed me on Discord from the beginning and have shared helpful advice. Let me know what you think! I will be happy to answer any questions.

For those who know nothing about this project, its a love letter to 80's post apocalyptic media and games. I've tried to also stay faithful to the retro aesthetic as much as possible.

The game runs in a terminal window and uses 1-bit mono TTF characters as sprites. This means ultra low requirements and a unique aesthetic that is distinctly retro. I've been working on this almost 3 years so I am excited to show it off.

I made a post awhile ago here about my Ascii games, but I think it needed a new thread as this version has more to show off including new companions and a preview of the Vehicular combat.

Interesting approach - good luck with it.

Be prepared for ... only a few (but then enthusiastic) users. DOS/Terminal games are a niche - and only some games there have a relatively huge fan base.

Thanks! I figured if the art can only be 1-bit better make the most of it.

Even though it is a Terminal game, it looks more like something that would have been on an 8-bit computer but polished to a very high degree with animation, sound and music. Graphically I can achieve results about what a ZxSpectrum could do. It's a hard sell and certainly a niche I agree. But I don't think nostalgia/retro infused games are waning in popularity anytime soon.

Retro

Looks like a great retro-style game. I assume it will run under DosBox. Looking forward to the demo version 8)

It actually runs in Windows using the CMD Terminal. It just has a high level of fakery making it look and function like a real Ms-Dos environment. All of the retro music was created using real Dos software and samples from a real Roland Mt-32.

So what you get is a modern Dos like game but without the crutch or technical tomfoolery of actually coding a Dos game in 2023. hehe!

Seems original for modern indie games being developed nowadays! Congratulations!

Preview of a character companion in my upcoming game. Her name is Taylor and one of many planned companions to travel the wasteland with.

All characters are professionally rendered before being reworked into 1-bit pixel art.
