What's up with the new Blender.  I downloaded the version 3.x  the other night, and it corrupted the UI of every blender version I own.  (which is 2.93 and 2.83).  Even after I uninstall every version of blender and reinstall only version 2.83 or 2.93 the UI is still corrupted.  Take a look at the attached image!

I would have thought that Blender uses separate folders for configs..
%APPDATA%\Blender Foundation\Blender\VERSION\config

Have a look if they have some common config data there - which could bork the older "installs".


More probably you coincidently updated Windows with a broken update - or a gpu driver doing stuff it better shouldn't.

Your screenshot looks as if it fails to render textures or the textures contain single-colour data (as they still "vary" it might mean they have a texture but it contains wrong data / no "mask")

Well Derron,  it seems like you're not far off.  I've had a look at the file location you suggested, and sure enough, there is only a config file for 3.0.
I haven't updated Windows lately, so that leaves the textures and gpu driver.  With those,  I have no idea of what I'm doing there.

I know that's a bug, but it's still a pretty interesting view of how their OpenGL text rendering works, all the little sprites for each character.

Yeah ... like max2d and the imagefonts.

thought they use some "sdf" approach - or rendering into textures for "always the same" stuff like labels... and wonder why they don't if they didn't.

I just had this wild idea!  Is it possible to re-write the config file to point to adapters to version 2.93 instead of 3.0.  Perhaps that will solve the issues.

which config file and which adapters?
