I was searching for and sorting pixel art asset references from twitter. The first artist his feed I started to mine had a whole bunch of Retro pixel art and regular art examples. His website has a (wip) tutorial :   Pixel Art Tutorial WIP (androidarts.com)

Angros47, I know. Luckily there are a lot of artist these days that use computers and know how to use screen recording.

Though most of the time I just use a reference image and spend a long time trying to copy and variate on what I see on that. Lots of time spent trying to know and place every pixel should do the trick.
