Cool, @iWasAdam. Im sorry i couldn't get Wonkey to work.

The first two magazines i saw opened my eyes to BlitzMaxNG! I moved from PlayBasic to BlitzMaxNG because off this, and discovered Syntax bomb.

I remember you offering to help me with ZX Spectrum sound Emulation problems i was having, and then You said you would disappear for a while? and keep an eye on my progress from the side lines.

I hope all is well and that the Forum moves on, and that everyone works together. Syntax Bomb truly is the best site by far! :D

I wish everyone on this forum a Very Happy Christmas and a Very Happy New Year!

Welcome Back

when you will all have finished to kiss Adam's feet, we could get back to the topic ? (to create an xmas mag)
:P

on my side, i could create an article on 3d space, global and local, 3d positions, 3d orientations (rotations), 3d vectors...

iWasAdam

I won't be doing one this year - maybe next?

the previous mag was too bloated with unrevelant articles / ads imo. :P
but the presentation and style was nicely done. :)

maybe for the next mag we could create something with one contribution per member (who wants to contribute with some of his knowledge / know how / experience ), related to making apps / games, programming,  2d drawing and animation and effects, 3d modeling, rigging, skining, animation, effects, maths for games, how to use a software related to making games or assets, how to use an external library related to making games, how to understand / code an algorithm / system related to making games, things to check before releasing a game, some tips to stay organized and motivated and focused, etc...)...

things that changed my life.

PS if you seen Adams feet you would kiss them

true, i agree.

this does mean anything to me because i was too young to know all of this... ^-^

it depends what the aim of the mag is... it was very broad for the previous one.

I find that pretty rude, actually. The last mag was exactly what IWasAdam wanted to create and we wanted to read. Nowhere, as I recall, did the description say it was to be just about computers and ray tracing and 3d programming, and nothing else. People wrote articles about mostly whatever they wanted, with a lose computing theme, and they did a very good job as well.

None of them were "unrelevant" ...

not everything was revelant to making games and the related topics. (what this forum is about ?)

so yes, the topics were very broad.

but revelant to xmas and good memories, apparently :

Quote
  • Memories of your 1st computer. Why it was so special and why it still holds a place in your heart.
  • Memories of visiting the arcade as a kid..
  • What projects you are working on now.
  • What have you learned from previous projects you've worked on.
  • Your favourite retro game and why you still go back to it.
  • A devlog from any projects you've done / working on. What worked / What didn't / What did you learn etc.
  • Awesome code example / tips / tricks etc.
  • What your favourite Christmas present was.
  • What you always wanted for Christmas but never got.
  • What is your favourite Christmas memory.
  • Christmas jokes.
  • Or anything you think will be great for the magazine. It doesn't have to be a topic from above, just contribute.

i did not remember that the topics were so BROAD. lol  ;)

anyway, back to the topic :

if Adam does not have time to create a nice mag.

we could all use the same software (Open Writer, which is free) and each member who wants to contribute with an article or a tutorial or an experience or a story or whatever, could create his pages on his side (with textes and images).

and then we could easily merge everything together at the end and export it as a pdf.

edit : or we could all create one or several images with an A4 size 2100width*2900height, with an image editor (several apps are free), one image for each page, with textes and images.

and then merge all these images with an images to pdf converter.

this is just an idea / suggestion. :)
