I think it's time we had another game comp. No cash prizes but pure bragging rights and perhaps even a shiny trophy in your profile ;D

Anyone up for it? any cool ideas? nothing complex but something we can just dive into.

Also it'll give me a great excuse to pull my hair out making a game on my super duper matchbox Windows PC :))

Until the next time.

We certainly need a distraction here and there have been some cracking game competition entries at SB.

lol it just gives you an excuse to improve your optimization skills Qube.   ;D

I Love the title of this compo - so much scope for huge diversity, and gives all due credit to Qube for helping me and other (slightly) aging coders dusting off their coding mitts.

I'm in..... So, how about an End-ex of the summer solstice...... Do I ask too much?

Failing that, how about the end of the easter holidays.....?

Rolling my dice for success.... Its a six!   :))

I like "6 Sides of a Qube" = abstract enough to leave a very wide field. Makes me think of some of those Escher drawings with worlds at "right angles" to each other, never intersecting...

If that's the title, then surely the deadline should be 6.66 (pm?) on June 6th?

:-)

I like "Six sides of a Qube" too. No need for any kind of description of what game type it needs to be. Just use that statement and run with it. Interesting.....

Not sure what the hell I'd do with it, however. But that's part of the fun - working it out.

Maybe also change up how the voting works this time, as there would be no prizes. Have a Zzap 64 style review system, perhaps?

Graphics:
Sound:
Playability:
Overall Score:

That way the games which do really well in some areas but not so well in others still have a chance at getting a reasonable score. Score between 1 - 10 for each area, so max points would be 40.

I really like this idea, except the Overall Score is just the sum of the other 3 categories - so max points would be 30.   :D

Interesting idea and fitting.

Feck knows how to interpret it but I'll give it a go.  ;D

I was thinking the same thing about Xerras scoring system, the scenario below is possible...   :))

Playability 10
Graphics  10
Sound 5
Overall 2

Maybe a bit more weight on playability so that's out of 20 making the total out of 40?

Yeah, playability is the main priority IMO too, maybe 1.5 to 2 X graphics and sound...Originality could also be added.

6, 6, 6, reminds me of an Iron Maiden number.

Or we could go for the 6 x 6 x 6 day of the year...... Roughly September, I might even finish my entre'.

6.6. 6:00 (so 6am) sounds good.
For all the lazy ones it could be extended till 10.06. - because this must be the day SB (re-)opened its doors for all you old farts and young freshman. Of course "late comers" will get a penalty of -1 in their score :p

How about gold, silver, bronze..... And a wooden spoon with a hexagonal 6 sided handle, I stand a chance at that one! 0600 on the 6th of the 6th then....?

And without further adieu.... We're off????

Think it would be nice to get some expressions of interest, bearing in mind there'd be no financial incentive this time. I think that has influenced some people previously, so we might not get the numbers to make it competitive.

I'd have a go. Already had a glimmer of an idea. And I need to get myself back on track after failing on the last two compo's :(
