Next Train to Mernda
Download link: http://www.stattosoftware.com/mernda/NextTrainToMernda.zip

About
Take a trip up the Flinders Street to Mernda line! A real life suburban rail line in Melbourne, Australia, use the ENTER key to drive your train, navigate the tunnels of the City Loop, sightsee along the 33km route, and try to stop at the end of each station.

Your train will speed up after a green signal and brake after a yellow signal. Holding down ENTER through a yellow signal will keep the train accelerating until you release the throttle, and if you stop far too soon your next throttle will accelerate until you stop again. You get points for a perfect stop at a red signal - try not to overshoot, as this loses you more points. See how high a score you can get (out of 1400)!

This is a game that was meant to be developed 30 years ago for Atari. Computer version of the popular game - electric car racing. The control is only adding and subtracting power with the right Ctrl key (or the left key for the other player).

Man, what a great idea. So many memories of Scaletrix as a kid. Well, actually I had the budget version which, from memory, was called Lane Changer. But it was still cool because you had a button on your controller to jump to the other lane on the track. Great for racing my sister and getting the timing right to slam her car off the track :-)

I played the video all the way through, not because I loved the annoying skidding sound, but because of the medley of music you've put in here. I recognised almost every track but I couldn't put a name to any of them from memory, which was a sad indicator that I'm getting old. Please put me out of my misery and give me a list of the game tunes you've remixed here for my sanity.

Game looks great but I won't give it a play until all submissions are in so I can try the lot in one session.

Also, I don't think you have a problem with more than one-button being used in the game. The rules say that only one key can affect gameplay in any way. From what I can see you're not breaking that with keys that adjust settings. Only potential issue is it being a two-player game so each player has their own one-button but I really don't think that should be a problem. It's just nobody probably thought of that when this started.

Extra Keys (I hope not to get disqualified :p )
Welcome to SyntaxBomb :)

The game requires no more keys, these are just additional options. If so, I submit an additional game to the reserve list:

Morpheus

Game Title:
Dexter

Download link and OS requirements:
Game for Windows and Mac, also available for IOS.
https://conceptalpha.itch.io/dexter

Required dependancies:
None.

Brief info about your game:
Your objective is to take control of Dexter the owl through 20 fun-filled levels where, once he starts moving, you can only control his jump by pressing one button. However, you're not totally restricted to just jump timing, as holding down the button will allow you to vary the heights Dexter can reach and, while you do initially only move in one direction, you will turn 180' if you encounter a solid, non-dangerous object, such as a tree trunk.
Dexter works on a 3 stars completion for each level, so you will find some levels may need to be completed more than once to unlock all of them, so the game isn't just "over" once you have done them all, and you can play any level you like at any time, once you have finished it at least once. Your criteria for a full level completion, however, requires you to beat the default best time, find all the secrets, and pick up all the collectibles in any playthrough.

@metamorpho
Ah dude, your game uses more than a one button control?, having the directional keys available is 4 buttons to many.
especially if they do the same thing.
You don't actually need them,just use a keyconfig.  :D

MrmediamanX, thanks for the advice.

Great looking entries so far. Good to see a decent amount too ;D

Hopefully I'll just have enough time to finish off my game. If not it'll be a day late and thus not part of the competition. Back to coding, wish me luck :))

I am trying to figure out how to "submit to this thread". I have links to post but I cannot see links to other submissions. Either I am in the wrong place or everyone is waiting until the last minute...

My mistake.... looking in the wrong spot. Pretend I did not post... *sigh*
May your journey be free of incident.

EDIT : Fixing a bug which got introduced somewhere after a set / leg has been won. New upload coming ASAP ( bugged version can still be downloaded but pointless ).

Will get the Windows version done, uploaded and then fix this post. The game is missing any in-game sounds as I just ran out of time but of course will add them in and upload after the voting has finished. Unless I can get away with calling it a bug? :))

I made the mistake of choosing the wrong game programming language, leading to an impasse, so I had to make a new one in a short amount of time.
