Hope we get the people having a go at this one.

As usual I have an idea formulated from an evening of painstaking research.

Ok, so I actually read a few wikipedia pages and listened to a load of Rob Hubbard music :)

Now that's full on proper research :))

Only brain fart ideas for now.

Even thought about "6 strings" (as in German we say "Saite" to a guitar string ... and "sides" can translate to "Seite" which is spoken out the same as "Saite").

Had a logic/arcade/puzzle game in mind but think with 6 sides it will be hard to ... hmm generate :)
Had an dice throwing + "twist" RPG  -- but too much assets, so would have to simplify it...

Still thinking.

Trying to think of ideas too. Not as easy as it sounds as most things I come up with / want to make don't fit the theme. Just adding a cube or 6 of something doesn't really cut it so struggling a bit.

I started tinkering with some ideas a couple of days back. I'm also hitting the dice angle with a mix of six different dice games. Ideally the best ones from a list I researched on the dice games wiki. Some of them should be pretty simple to implement but a couple could be a bit more challenging. Especially as I need to make some a bit more interesting as there's no rolling dice manually here, so it'd just be tapping a key to simulate rolls to get numbers, and that doesn't make that much of an interesting game.

One of the games would be a real challenge to pull off for me, though, so I'll leave it until I've done five of the others before I make a decision on trying to do that one.

Going with the name "Faces of Qube" I'm pretty much decided now. Obviously six games coincides with the subject theme and there being six sides on a dice. Guessing you all figured that out, right? :)

I'm going for 6 of something to make the six sides of Qube. Fits the overall theme ;D - Plus it's Derron's idea so I'm sure he'll have loads of ideas :))

How about a Beat Em Up called 'The 6 Ways of the Exploding Qube'? Maybe a shooter called 'Six Gun Qube' or a game aesthetic with 6 shades of grey? Lots of non cube/dice options.  ;D

MrmediamanX

Dang it, I don't know if I can make it or not ... It's been extremely busy over here with protesters and all that jazz.
If I get enough time I can hopefully get something out. Good luck to everyone else just in case.

Or a character or vehicle named Qube with six sides of (insert a thing here).  :)
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..

I've been thinking of a set of six mini-games "charting" the progress of computer games:
1) Text-only  (I know how much you lot love those...   ^-^)
2) Basically text, but with some pictures
3) single-screen platformer, or some such
4) horizontal scrolling "endless" world
5) Basically 2D, but orthographic projection
6) Full 3D.

Ideally, with themes matching a series of centuries, probably from 17- 22nd, based around a book set then.

...but knowing me, most of it won't get done...  >:(

How about the 6 main emotions/sides that Qube could show in a game/level?

1.  Happiness.
2.  Sadness.
3.  Fear.
4.  Disgust.
5.  Anger.
6.  Surprise.

As a Commodore Man, being attacked by Spectrums and Jet Set Willy game icons could be number 4 lol.   :))

Had an idea while my teeth got cleaned (thanks mrs. dentist :D)...

So I could spit out the other ideas I had:
- Side scroller / "castle vs castle" game with your dice rolls defining attack values, movement ... (maybe even with the ability to choose what dices to use for attack and what for defense / movement)
- an "unroll / turn the dice" game in which the unrolling decides how many "steps" you move .... and the final dice eg colours blocks (with the goal to colorize the whole map ... maybe "rolled over" strips the paint)
- ask qube ... creating a kind of "AI" which can react with 6 different "personalities" ("ELIZA" ? :D)
- attacker game in which you have to decide what dices (different "abilities" per side) to use - with your opponent being able to have skills like "turn the dice" (upside down) or similar things
- six sided "puzzle": imagine a cube with little blocks here and there ... they can be moved vertical/horizontally from the side you are looking at. The goal is to guide a specific block to the "outside" - and of course you need to rotate the cube so you have "access" (see) the block you want to move. So it is similar to these games in which you need to help a car leave the parking/car park by shunting/routing the other cars to free the path. Yet I think it is rather hard to create "levels" there (think you need to start "clean path" and then move blocks until you think it is "enough steps to do"

Need more ideas?

PS: I did not have a game in mind when suggesting the topic - which was why I wrote it. I simply had the "topic" in mind and posted it to avoid me thinking over it and "adjusting" the wording to allow for my secret game then :D

I'm not going for just adding 1 cube, I'm going for 6 levels with a squared number of Qubes..... Not sure if my compiler will handle 6 cubed qubes. C :P

Derron

am not sure if six square squirrel squads of qubes can handle 6 cubed qubes well.
Better make five or six ice qubes to cool down your hexahedron-shaped glass for booze.

btw: "qubicle" might be a good working title for an office sim game :p
