Hello,
I tell you that I ran an antivirus scan on my PC. I reported two possible viruses in "MinGW32x86" in BlitzMax. "i686-w64-mingw32-clear.exe" and "i686-w64-mingw32-toe.exe"
I uploaded it to TotalVirus and also received some alerts.
Is it a false positive?
Thank you.-

Both files you descripe are not part of BlitzMax's MinGW.

I scanned my blitzMax folder and I cannot find such files.

Some mingw-distros seem to contain it. But the one provided with NG ...does not.

Hello,
I have been using the version "BlitzMax NG (0.136.3.51)" (which contains those files also in the same conditions) and yesterday I updated to the version "BlitzMax_win32_mingw_0.139.3.55.202309100124", which I downloaded from the github repository. When I unzipped it, the antivirus (Panda Dome) informed me of those two files as a possible threat. I immediately contacted them to let them know.
I have not downloaded "MinGW" from another source.
The files are in the path "BlitzMax (0.139.3.55.202309100124)\MinGW32x86\opt\bin\"

Well... I can confirm that in the very last release from 2023-10-09

BlitzMax_win32_mingw_0.139.3.55.202309100124.7z

there are this 2 new files:

  • i686-w64-mingw32-clear.exe
  • i686-w64-mingw32-toe.exe

in the folder

\BlitzMax\MinGW32x86\opt\bin\

It looks like the complete MinGw is now replaced by a newer  version. Most of the files are dated:  22-11-06.

The Official Stable Release...

BlitzMax_win32_x64_mingw_0.136.3.51.7z

... most of the MinGW-files are dated: 2018-05-11

I can say nothing about virus danger. Brucey should have a look on it
