I just spent 9 months learning Pure Basic and did ok however I feel AGK is more up to date. I have decided to shelve Pure basic until Opengl is fixed  .Which could take some time. Ogre needs replacing or updating.
So there we are I'm back to AGK Studio .

Instead of moving from language to language and back to start (or steps inbetween) you might think about posting here what you achieved ... uring your 9 months "learning Pure Basic".

Present some screenshots, write some sentences on what knowledge you gained. You surely did not just "fight the language" but also learned approaches/tactics on how to tackle certain things.

Self-reflect on what you really learned from trying out another language. Maybe it helps to identify if you learned something, what you learned - and maybe also guides you regarding your next steps.

I wonder what the benefits are for the brain if you learn a new computer language every now and then? Learning as is should be a good thing. For memory alone it should be good.

I am having to spent time learning how to use those ai tools to make them generate correct code. I got access to Bing chat today and asked it for a lines overlap check function as a first question. I have no idea how quick this ai is going to change Programming.

I'm gonna do that Derron gonna give it some thought .

First of all I spent 8 or 9 months learning PureBasic not everything but enough to do what I wanted . It would be excellent if it lived up to scratch but unfortunately there are some things that don't work well at all in 3D using ogre . I had problems with shadows in ogre as in black things . OpenGL is not really working as in there is no terrain . The new c backend works fine . I'm gonna reserve judgement on PureBasic as the potential is there but as of right now AGK studio is my favorite .  I'm just gonna wait now to see if it gets fixed and then maybe have another go.

After all that time it didn't take very long to get back into AGK probably just a couple of days, first bought AGK 5 years ago and I think out of the five languages I've tried in recent years AGK only my opinion of course , is right up there . Have a nice day.

AGK ain't much different to any other basic language to be honest, some of the keywords may differ but are still similar to what's in other devkits. I've been using it since around 2016 or 2017, I had stuff flying about the screen in less than half an hour.

Yes indeed Steve AGK is very similar to other Basics but the best selling point is it works as it should , mentioning no names but some are broken to the point that I cannot or at least very unlikely  to be able to complete a game in . Such a shame as I put many hours into my last learning curve but there we are . So glad I had not forgotten how to use AGK . The game I'm working on is coming along nicely although it may take months and months to finish . The difference between me as a programmer 5 years ago and now is incredible. I guess that's experience.
  Have a nice day.

I think the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence but having tried other languages and it makes me realize how good AGK is .
I will not be spending another 9 months learning another language as life is too short and I'm not getting any younger . So that is it for now and I will be sticking with what I know (AGK Studio) . I hope if TGC introduce a new language it will be the same syntax just faster or something as I believe they have got it right . Maybe a jit compiler or something . That would really be excellent . I think for robustness and the fact it works as it should is good . I would definitely pay extra for Jit . Have a nice day.
