AGK Studio £14.93 on steam today. It is considered an easy language to learn and as a user of a few years I would agree with this although to say it is easy is not how I would describe it , I will add though that it is tried and tested and it works as it should do . This is my number 1 language . If you are starting out or having some knowledge of BASIC this is a great place to start. I have tried a few basics and some other languages and AGK Studio or Classic for me is the best out there. 
 How long does it take to learn ? I have spent the last 5 years leaning to program and I would say if I would of stuck to AGK exclusively I think It would be about 2 years . Glad I spent some time with the other systems Python and Lua as it gives me a yard stick to compare them with. I am not an expert by any margin however maybe I am a novice and somewhat  competent. Todays AppGameKit Studio price £49.19  . Wow . I wonder if the current team will have the same pricing style . It does keep people looking I suppose . I purchased at £31.59 I think a few of years ago. Similar in use to PureBasic using Ogre 1.8  but using tier 1 basic I find AGK Studio better for me on a few fronts . since beginning this I have created games using blitz3d , pure basic , AGK classic , AGK Studio , and expeimented with Python and Lua . AGK Studio is my favorite but if I started with it it could of been a one stop solution although I had to try others to realize this.

Yes but is not my thing I did start off with Blitz3D though and have a high regard for it. Never seen much of BlitzMax although it seems pretty popular around here and as it's free then why not . 

AGK studio is still being maintained and if you want to publish to app store or play store this is probably a good choice . 
It is also easier and more robust than some other offerings and does what it says on the tin . Not too many nasty surprises halfway through your coding . As a computer language it can do pretty much anything with a bit of imagination. I think it is quite easy to learn and a very good starting point if you are willing to put the hours in. If someone is teaching you I would of thought 1 year to get good at it and 2 years muddling through by yourself. I started with a little knowledge of Basic so at least I understood a bit of what I was  doing. Played around with stos back in the early 90's and my BBC B around 85. So I knew enough to know what I was getting into although I did not think it took as long as it did . There's a lot to take in but I think it is worth the trouble. Happy days.
