SyntaxBomb - Indie Coders

I've finally got the gfx look I want,  and some of the basic gameplay in. I had to pick a game that was loaded with AI, so my bad there, but I should make the deadline. Anyone care to guess what game from the 80's I might have picked?

Hint: There was an 8bit version in '82 and later on that decade they released a 16-bit version.

When I first saw the image I though 'Theme Park' but I'm not backing that thought 

I'm mixing my game with 2 titles from the 80's -
Clue #2: Activision title.
Clue #3: Broderbund title.

I'll probably need to post a better screenshot if anyone is to guess either title, that shot shows no game action lol.. sorry.

Title #2, Hint #2:
The player controls a citizen who must collect items and complete tasks to get to the end while being chased by a number of policemen ( enemies)..

I've made some progress on the 8bit shader for my entry, it's not perfect but I still have some time to tweak on it and get it looking more 8bit'ish

I've decided to give the player the choice of 8b, 16b or Svga modes to play under. I've also added an option to play with no retro effects whatsoever (for those that just want to get down and dirty with play-mode).

This is my cleaned up 16-bit shader, it'll be the default shader used. I just dont feel I'll have enough time to clean up and get the 4 and 8bit shader working as properly as it should be.. but the good news is the 16bit version of this game was released in the 80's ( 1986 ) so I'm still within the guidelines.

Obviously there were no real-time shadow systems in the mid 80's but I tossed it in as a toggleable just to see what it 'would had looked like'.

Wow. That is lovely stuff. The pixel render is the bomb diggity!

I've taken a gamble today, I've decided to implement a new weapon type, Dart Gun. It's kinda late for me to add such a huge addition to the game but I feel I can get it in and working, as it should, in the allotted time. I used a similar technique in a game project I did earlier this year and it was a nice addition, I'm hoping for the same effect here!


I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't break any systems I already have in the game - being this close to the deadline.

Wow look at that, well all i felt i could say was that try to do something with it so it doesn't seem bland after awhile like some games but that this is for a comp so well. seems your very proficient.
