My game for the comp will be called 'Relentless Dave in the Caves of Caerphilly', a nod to the Indiana Jones movie titles.   ;D

Taking inspiration from the Indiana Jones Movies, Pitfall and Rick Dangerous - all-be-it a 1 button version.  Attached is a screen showing some of the hazzards so far that have been drawn and animated.  Relentless himself, falling rocks, a bomb and a snake.  Other hazzards and enemies to follow, lava, scorpions, deadly spikes, bats etc.

Looking sweet 8) - I'd get out of those caves pronto. Just got in there and there's a bomb and a snake. Yeah, time to leave :))

ok, so playing around with level design in the tile editor and importing the data into my AGK code.

excellent stuff - can't wait to try this out :)

Cheers Adam, I think I'll start off with simple levels at first so people can pick up the basics and get used to jumping, shooting, avoiding and climbing.  But later levels will get pretty tough.  Qube saw a snake and a bomb and wanted to leave lol - it'll get far tougher than that!  ;D

If I was going to make a concept suggestion it would be this:
- make it a right to left scroller
- for shooting - when you pick up a weapon it automatically fires - depleting ammo
- if you pick up a jet pack then you can fly - key = power so the more you hold the key the higher you go. release and the jet pack stops and you begin to fall
- if you have no jet pack the you jump when the key is pressed
- if the key is pressed or you are jumping when you get to a ladder you go up...

- have coins to collect and things to avoid

Thanks for the suggestions.  Yes it will scroll to the left.

As most platformers scroll  right what is the rationale other than Adam suggested it?

Looks good BTW - will it be similar to One Button Bob? Think there was a follow up to that too.

Thanks Amon, yep I like the pixel art look.  :)

Cheers, no, I had already decided to continually scroll to the left to give a sense of pressure, so you're forced to think quicker about hazards. A bit like One Button Bob but with bigger levels and scrolling.

Sorry guys but I'm going to halt progress on this game too.

I know I have several unfinished games but it always comes down to the same thing, they're just side-line projects.  My main project is my computer language (elgol) which takes so much of my time.  Plus the fact (while very capable) AGK's syntax is not to my liking at all.  So I would have to complete the games just to enter the comp because my own language isn't complete, and after that re-write in elgol.  I'd rather not do that.

Writing fully completed games (rather than test programs) in elgol is the best way to test the language.  So with the sprite/vector graphics routines and animation I've produced, I'll be using them with elgol code to complete those games at last.

So back to it!   :)

Oy! Get back to it Mr >:( A couple of weeks to finish off your game won't make any difference with your much larger project  ;D

lol, I just don't want to use AGK anymore - even for a few weeks. I've something that suits me much better, but needs to be completed.

I'm sort of with Qube - release what you have and let us see the progress. I would certainly be interested in how far you got with this.

On the Elgol(?) front - Anything to show or help needed in any way?
