OK, Here goes with a concept logo

The first working prototype. Also known as 'can it work':

And after some accidents and more tinkering with the concept...

Now for some checking:
on block - check
off block falling - check

on wire - check
on wire can drop - check
can grab wire - check

fan on.... er check
off block rising.... er check
caught wire - check
too high - check

falling or rising... check
fan speed - WTF
fan particles... go to hell

sanity... completely gone!

So.... how does it play - what's the story?

It's a sort of puzzle game, because your are going to get puzzled trying to work out how to get to the next level.
To progress, you need to collect all the DNA capsules. as you collect them, the DNA mutates those pesky bugs - or something...

Playing in a cylindrical game world is a nice touch.  Can't say I've seen anything like that before.

Hmm well kinda like Nebulous which was a cool idea, but frustrating as fuck lol.

Adam had one in a previous competition - you could play it cylindrical or not. Must have been the 2017 xmas entry - as a prototype of mine is dated to this year.
Mine was this:

true it was my first attempt that gave me the general idea :)

Now with (more or less) mono action - and look there's a fan at the bottom...  :o

iWasAdam

UI more or less sorted now:

On the left is the amount of flasks to collect

and on the right is your dna health. So avoid any nasty stuff or mutant virus that you might encounter. cause if your run out of dna - it's game over...

What irritates me a bit is the difference in visual "pixel sizes".

Talking eg about the different parts of the human body on the right side. If there are "small pixel heights", why not using it on his right-side leg?

If there are so small pixel heights - why not using them on the left side flask too - to remove some blockiness?

Just an artistic decision or is this because of some scaling "issues" ?

You mean it is called "using a non square pixel resolution" :-)

The issue is that you eg press 55 virtual pixels into a 100 real pixel row. Some will become 2 pixels tall, others just 1.

I somewhen suggested to you if it was possible to have black borders around your app and only allow multiples of your virtual pixel size - that way they would not look non-square / squeezed.

You may want that - but you aint gonna get it  :P

The apps can scale to any resolution without any issues apart from pixel malformations. The end user really does not see those unless everything is frozen.

And pixels do not have to be square - they can be any resolution too... ;)

As long as all pixels are equal - Yet yours "come in all sizes"  :-)
Seems you fight for pixel diversity.

This is not a big issue - it is just something I saw in all your resolution independend pixel games - and thought it mustn't be that hard to add borders and restrict for multiples of the raw / design resolution. Do it once and all your "based on this engine" games can benefit from it.
