Come on guys.  All those AAA games out there.  AT LEAST 3 out 5 them are written using the Unreal engine.  I know a few of you are hiding in the forums somewhere.  Share your experiences.

I definitely want to check out Unreal next but I'm sooo deep into Unity at the moment that I don't have the time to do that.

I'm not sure if it's worth the time. I don't fear C++ as I'm pretty ok in it. I fear more that I will do less coding than with Unity and using Blue Prints all the time.

What is an AAA game :-[

I hear u Xaron. I have to confess that is one of the main reasons I am so unproductive. Too much browsing and not enough time hammering out code.  Currently I juggling 3 projects alone.  2 in Godot and 1 using the TORQUE engine.  and to make matters worse, one of the Godot projects is an sci-fi rpg.  I estimate it might take me five years to complete that project.

As good as Unreal is [Used all of them] , We aren't AAA around here. It's just one of things where the more underground the better.
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..

..what exactly AAA stands for?? ..

Dabz

I don't think AAA means anything really, like, as an acronym, it probably just reflects something thats graded as top tier, like, how school results have "A+", credit agencies use the same for how credit worthy an entity is, and all that guff... Just another way to represent the "star" system.

Once over, you probably looked at something that was indeed "Triple-A" and would be certain of top quality, the irony now is, especially when it comes to gaming, when I see "AAA", I just see "expensively made broken shit"

A bit like how nowadays, everything is "Premium", they wallop that word on everything, and... It isnt! :D

Yeah, its like that tosh drink 'prime', was 4 quid, now 99p, marketing shizzle gone mad.  Can't believe these so many muppets that went for it - I don't believe anyone on these forums would've fell for it though.

In short:

The term "AAA Games" is a classification used within the video gaming industry to signify production price, budget and notable publishers or investors
It Is not related to overall game aesthetic, mechanics or popularity.
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..

I'll be around likely. I've given a 5 year est. Too. How's it going? No false promises just foe fun.

I'm just a mentally ill person stuck in person. I've had quite an online history and of media such as role plays with people that became movies (for real) among other things and content. I wanted to be an online famous person at one time. Unfortunately it's ill and I'm anonymous.

Right, it's actually meaningless, but is bandied around by marketing departments and to investors/media enough that the assumption of quality or expense is carried and given momentum.
Truth is, so-called "AAA" games are typically those made with huge budgets, supported by the largest publishers - and are in awful condition at launch and rarely fixed to a decent standard before being dropped entirely.

Good quality games, on the other hand, are typically made by independent developers, or those with smaller publishers where the developers retain more creative freedoms to pursue what is more a labour of love. Making the works they want to make to a standard they feel is appropriate.

I'm not sure what your asking and my post is rather vague and obscure, I had a project I worked on, medievaldreams fantasy 3d rpg. I quit it except today I thought I could brush it up sometime just for the sake of it. I'm most concerned with my personal life.
