Its because it was done quick and dirty! So if you like the combination of J7M and my suggestion it probably needs 1 hour and it will be perfect!

I even thought of this!smallBasic2.png

Thanks for all your entries, they all look great!

Just to make things more complicated: Here's some details about icon requirements for android:

https://developer.android.com/distribute/google-play/resources/icon-design-specifications

This is the main consideration, the desktops versions can use whatever works for android.

Cheers,
Chris

Am sure you meant to write "Basics" right?. :-)

Joke aside: there is absolutely no reason to abbreviate "small" as "sm" there ...people would simply pronounce it "S-M BASIC".

Another thing I would avoid is adding so many colours (in the flower). It is not Windows 95 calling, also more modern logos use less than 5 colors (with google being the exception of having their "green red yellow blue" stuff - so 4 colours)

The flower itself might have a reminiscence to something specific ... but yeah, anybody coming across this logo without "knowing about it" will simply see it as a flower ... "programming + flower". Dunno what people should think there. Associate it with "leightweight" ? Or something attracting bees? Smelling wonderful?

Programming languages/kits are about:
- cross-platform
- game programming
- business software programming
- algorithms
- "machine thinking"
- calculations
- swiftness (if it is a faster than average language)
- easy to learn ("building blocks" ...)
...

Think about what people see when they do NOT know the history of a project and are just coming to there because some word of mouth propaganda, search engines ("easy to learn programming language" etc).
Collect these "terms", and then brainstorm about this when doing a logo (not talking about the text representation of the application name  - so "small basic" - capsed the way you prefer - the textual representation is something which should possibly be able to stand alone without the icon, same for the icon/logo).

bye

The white frame is 384x384 for product specs if my calculations are correct so all graphics fit inside that, background is or should be transparent.

2nd image is solid black background.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks to Qube for SmallBasic LOGO image that pops off a surface.

Here is transparent with print readable with Black or White backgrounds: (but not purple! :D )

OK so maybe transparent background not good for graphics since no garantee what background will be but transparent border frame might work. (2nd image)
