Well I've been at this for nearly six weeks now and It's coming along fine .Still plenty to learn but I should think by the time I hit 3 months I'll have enough experience to start a project.  This is from someone with a few years using AGK and a project in pure basic a couple of years ago. So glad I'm not starting from scratch. In some ways I wish I had started and stuck to PureBasic in the first place however that's hindsight . AGK was a pleasure to use and for beginners a great system to learn with . Happy coding.

My first game in AGK took me six weeks and was very simple and pretty awful in every way . I'm taking a different approach to learn PB than I did before and that is make a series of demos and find out how it all works before I start a new project (some of it anyway) as I think it is a better way to learn rather than decide on a project and bulldoze my way through it . Have a nice day.

Well I have decided to make a start on a new project and am feeling quite upbeat about it. Think I am going to enjoy this although I need a decent idea to make a start . Thinking cap on .

Well I'm at the stage after 3 months and ten days where I am surpassing my knowledge of AGK . I have mountains on the skybox , I did not know how to do this in AGK I have also got third person perspective working so the last 3 months have been educational in that I learnt how to do some new things.

Hi things have ground to a halt as can't come up with a decent idea. ,     5 months after my anitial attempt to learn it and     am relatively confident I know enough to get producing my next piece of software.  Just using DirectX9 for now as that is what is working and will worry about OpenGL when it is ready. I almost jacked it in and went back to AGK but am pleased to say I'm sticking to PureBasic and Ogre.

Sorted the shadows in PB not too difficult . I have been at this 5 months 10 days and I now know enough to make a start and produce something other than a demo. I have reached a point where I am surpassing what I knew in AGK . This was my 4 th at least try and swap over to pureBasic in the last couple of years and I have now accomplished what I set out to do and learn enough to get going . I figured at the beginning this would take 3 months so a fair bit longer than I anticipated . Well worth the effort though.

I'm extending my learning period until I have learnt how to make smooth height maps in PB . I can do this in AGK and need to be able to do this in PB as well. If I can't find a fix for this then it's gonna take some other way to accomplish what I need . AGK and PB are very similar in the way they work but are different so much to learn .

Well I managed to get a similar effect and am pleased with the result and this is going into my examples.

Well  i think this will do for now. My program of useful examples is done for now. It has been six months to accomplish this which is way longer than I anticipated, I thought I could do this in 3 months but there we are. It's been worth it and I'm quite fluent with what I know which is nice.
So there we are with and that is with a fair bit of knowledge of Basic and I wrote a small game in it a few years ago but had forgotten most of that . I stopped using PureBasic after I wrote one game in it as my brain was fried and I took a year off and when I returned I found I could not get back into PB so tried AGK again and was soon up and running .  However a year later (six months ago) I decided to buy PB as an incentive to get on and learn it . Anyway  this time it is coming together nicely .

I am finding it trying but am gaining an important piece of knowledge. It seems I need to produce a skeleton file with my .mesh to do the animation . I have tried ogre assimp converter and it gives me a .mesh and a .material file and does not put out a .skeleton file .  I know it can be done just not how as of yet .

I'm not quite done yet but will consider so once I have got the animation working . Any suggestions accepted . I think it's more of a blender thing than a PureBasic one . Thanks for reading .

I have got the .skeleton thing down and expect to have my first animations working within the next couple of days. I'm in no rush as I see the finishing post.
