CharlieJV

A modified version of wwwBASIC hosted by (and enhanced by) TiddlyWiki.

So a single-file (HTML) hosting the BASIC interpreter, IDE, all BASIC programs, documentation for those programs (anything at all one would want in a TiddlyWiki), portable (USB key!), works offline/online, and export BASIC programs to simple HTML files which can be shared/deployed (for running, or simply to share the source code) however.

Some sample programs exported for deployment/sharing:

As of late, something that makes BASIC Anywhere Machine particularly interesting to me: the possibility of native TiddlyWiki functionality (widgets) interacting with a BASIC program.

For example, see both samples in this TiddlyWiki

  • a ridiculous addition calculator (TiddlyWiki provides the GUI, BASIC does the work)
  • (scroll down a bit) settings to customize the colors used in the "Sunshine" program (again, TiddlyWiki provides the GUI, BASIC does the work)

Well paint me green and call me Gumby!  Small world!  How's it shaking, stranger?

Thanks for the welcome!

I tell ya, I some appreciate, plus plus, the anonymous birdie who let me know about this place.

Truth be told, I have a "BASIC's unite" (in a cooperative competitors kind of thing) mindset lately, so I may very well be popping up in various places, making sure to put in good words for the various BASIC's out there along with my little project.

Yeah, full disclosure: I am rather partial to QB64, YABASIC, of all things Microsoft's Small Basic (it is just too darned cute), Gambas, and Spider Basic.  But oh how I do appreciate anything that has that special BASIC je-ne-sais-quoi ...

Cheers !

There's a couple on your list I don't recognize but Yabasic yes, cool.

Gambas I've heard mention but didn't know it was a Basic.

Someone posted about a SmileBasic here to add to ones to check out. Lot's of Blitz right here, has a great tutorial going.

SmallBASIC NOT MS is also right here at this forum!
Lots's a great samples to review in it's library here is a link: http://smallbasic.github.io
The editor takes some getting use to, it's all right mouse popups.
ChrisWS has brought back a more normal editor maybe because someone kept complaining ;-))
Love editors with tabbed file listings.
