  • Kris:
  • If we're about creating our own alt 80s-90s retro magazine universe we could review and write about the syntaxbomb comp games and interview the creators. That a decent size of material by itself...and then writing all the current cool dev tools like AGK...:D

  • We should do a Christmas retro magazine, lol, each one of us does a page or two, obviously pick topics you like, write it up, then send it to Qube so he can compile them together into a single PDF or something, and then he can release it on Christmas Day so we all have something to read! :D

  • I used to love Amstrad Action, memories eh! :D Also, and I dont know why, but I miss the cover art style of cassette games, especially the budget range (£1.99), the more expensive the game, the more elaborate the cover art, but I quite liked the mostly cartoony cover art of cheapo games, if you know what I mean, oh, and in some cases, the cover art didnt match the game either, as in, Sultans Maze, it has a picture of a monster on the box, but in fact, it was a ghost that chased you! :D

  • I used to love dashing down to the shops to get the latest CU Amiga / Amiga Fornat magazines. Also looked forward to the Christmas edition of Amiga Format as it contained more pages and had up to 4 cover discs. Shame that time has passed.

  • Well it was the Golden Age of BASIC's.  With Fast BASIC, GFA BASIC, Hisoft BASIC, STOS and AMOS!
  • September 30, 2019, 04:59:05 PM
  • Qube:
  • GFA Basic :o my word, that's another one I'd forgotten about. Retro overload, retro overload :P
  • September 29, 2019, 03:41:17 AM
  • MikeHart:
  • GFA was awesome. Had it on the Atari ST. Bought it right out of their Office in Düsseldorf.
  • September 28, 2019, 06:41:40 PM
  • iWasAdam:
  • I checked out the others (at the time) GFA was the fastest with very low level access. Wish I still had the code :(
  • September 28, 2019, 03:19:44 PM
  • Kris:
  • How good was BlitzBasic compiler on Amiga compared to others?
  • September 28, 2019, 03:16:22 PM
  • iWasAdam:
  • I had GFA BASIC on the AMiga with the compiler - produced uber tight code
