  • col: Yeah but taking me to a place (the Play Store) that I've indicated that I do not want to go to (by clicking X to close which means No) does nothing but make me uninstall the original game due to annoying me by trying to take me for a fool. So now both the original game (that I may have bought after a nice little run of playing it with 'regular' adverts) and the advertised game have definitely lost a sale. Not such good a advertising scheme really :D

  • Derron: you already summed it up perfectly :)

  • col: What the hell is up with mobile games using a fake X to close an ad which then takes to the android Play Store to buy the game - WTF is that all about?

  • hosch: oh yeah just re-read the thread, everything i need to know is there i guess. sorry.

  • hosch: hey all. i think i've finished RhythZard and I am currently setting up the itch page. This is the first time I am participating in the comp. where to post it and how to find the entries of the other players? and how does the rating work?

  • Kryzon: Take care Steve, we'll be here when you get back

  • Derron: Have fun. Btw no need to take a break, just visit it less often until you change your mind.
    October 17, 2021, 11:34:31
  • Steve Elliott: Good luck to everyone with their projects, I'm taking a break from this cool coding place.

  • dawlane: One thing to note about the MOS 6581. Some programmers would target a specific revision of that chip, so there were always subtle differences in audio. The latest SID chip replacement is the ARMSid. [link]

  • Steve Elliott: I thought they might be.
    October 09, 2021, 21:32:22
  • dawlane: The voltages are different. You'll find the differences at [link]

  • Steve Elliott: I went with the C64C because apparently it's more reliable and gives a better picture.  But the Breadbin design is the one I remember as a kid.  If the old SID is compatible I'd swap that at some point.
    October 09, 2021, 17:12:59
  • Qube: The bread bin 64 was actually better than the 64c in the audio department. The SID chip was different and often lost out on the punch and bass of the bread bin version.
    October 09, 2021, 06:01:05
  • Steve Elliott: Went into a shop today and they had the old skool bread bin designed 'The 64' emulator.  Really made me want that design that I grew up with - rather than the 64C I have. I might get a breadbin designed one from eBay and fit the C64C board inside it.

  • Steve Elliott: The best keyboard by far too.

  • Steve Elliott: The BBC Micro had some fantastic arcade ports. Snapper (Pacman) was so close to the arcade version they were forced to withdraw it and re-do the graphics!

  • Pfaber11: At some point I owned all those computers . The BBC was my personal favorite . I remember having Defender on it and it was exactly the same as the arcade version .

  • Steve Elliott: Thanks, yes they were the 3 main memories for me of computers when they first became popular in the home, ZX Spectrum, C64 and the Beeb.  Good to have all 3 now, a major nostalgia hit.

  • Steve Elliott: Just heard about fb.  I was at the cinema.

  • steve_ancell: @Steve Elliot:
Glad you're enjoying the BBC Micro.  8)

  • steve_ancell: Looks like Facebook has seriously shit it's pants, it's still down.

  • Steve Elliott: Nah my Sony Trinitron has a flatter screen, is better looking, gives a crisp picture, can be used for more than 1 computer (Speccy is also plugged into it) and was cheaper than the CUB Monitors. I know they were popular with schools though so maybe more authentic in that way.
    October 04, 2021, 14:52:04
  • iWasAdam: BBC Micro.. CUB Monitor is your only friend (by MicroVitec)

  • Steve Elliott: Plugged the BBC B into a CRT TV through RGB now.  Just how retro computers should be. Will have to fit the chip and tiny Micro SD Board into the User Port to load software though.

  • Steve Elliott: Looking forward to getting a fully serviced BBC Micro, series 7.  After my cheap non serviced one blew up lol.

  • Pfaber11: Yes indeed hats off to sir Clive Sinclair and his game changing ideas.
    September 18, 2021, 12:27:18
  • Steve Elliott: RIP Sir Clive Sinclair :(
    September 17, 2021, 10:17:57
  • therevills: Thanks Dawlane :)
    September 14, 2021, 10:37:31
  • dawlane: I would compare specs from the manufactures website. If the specs match, then I would buy. But the old modules were matched pairs, then the new should also be matched pairs.

  • therevills: Since my board is pretty old now (4 years), the ASUS QVL really only shows discontinued products.

    Would this be compatible?

Corsair is normally compatible with a lot so I dont think it matters too much, but normally I like to get what's on the QVL list ;)
