Thanks Qube, yeah I posted a pic in the gallery for a bit. Quite a character too until her health issues got the better of her lately. The Wife and I are devastated. But we try and remember the good times spent with her.
It has 8 colours in 256×256 or 4 in 512×256...Clive Sinclair over promised definitely. I always thought it a nice looking machine. It sits next to my Spectrum Next, an even nicer looking machine and infinitely more powerful (as far as 8-bits go).
I have a Sinclair QL with a Schon Keyboard. Its a lovely keyboard. Shame the OS was crap and it only had 4 colors. I had high expectations of it when it was first mentioned. I thought it was going to blow the ZX Spectrum out the window when it first came out.
Eventually got around to replacing the keyboard membrane on the Sinclair QL and re-fitting the ROM chip on the BBC Micro (so lots of games can be accessed from a SD Card....And bought a new desk for them all to sit on! I'm using every inch of my Computer Room/Man Cave right now lol.
Haha because it maters mate lol - well if you code it does. I really hate typing on a spongy keyboard...And it matters because retro computers, and even arcades are coming back...But shhh I develop on VS Code on PC then to SD Card on Spectrum Next.
Haha, that did look like a real quality keyboard. It looked very impressive. Games, not so much. The Atari 800, BBC Micro and even the C64 are better than the Amiga and Atari ST I think lol. Even the Oric is better!
The AMOS Manual is dissappointingly small compared to STOS though (penny pinching) because it's physically smaller and is not ring bound - so you can't leave it open on a page without it closing on you. Which you need when typing in from the book.
Loved AMOS until AMOS Pro came on the scene. The only downside to AMIS was the BOB ( sprite ) speed was sloooow. I think it could only handle between 4 and 8 bobs before it couldn't stay at 50fps but at least the compiler pretty much doubled that
Bought some software for my latest retro system (the Amiga). I have a small collection for systems that I have nostalgia for - The Atari 800 (a mates computer) Sinclair Spectrum (my 1st computer) and now the Spectrum Next. Plus the Amiga now.
lol true, CSpect is pretty good, but not 100% the speed of real hardware. But my understanding of asm is not good enough for a full game just yet. Actually I'm waiting on a Next book which promises some whizzing asm code
Oh Qube's a Pinball Wizard then lol Yeah silky smooth scrolling on Amiga, just like the Atari ST (ahem). I wish I'd saved a bit more money back in the day. Seeing the impressive looking and sounding games like Shadow of the Beast and Agony
Lol, got to grasp it while it's there... I was tired of last winter mind, seemed "different", like, it was drawn out and the cold got right in me... Anyhoo, none of that malarcky on July 4th, off to Bodrum... Giddy up the Effes!!! \o/ yay
£16 a pop (https://tinyurl.com/23pte579), nah... If I was building just a normal set consisting of 3 of them, yeah, save a bit of time, but their easy enough to make, so, gonna grab some of me toys and do a bit of chopping!
Seems everyone was out in the fresh air! I'm building a decking, only get a saturday really to do anything, so the extra day on a BH weekend is appreciated... This weekend, got the step risers to make, 15 of the buggers... Would buy them, but at
I'll be doing a little maintenance on the patio I built during COVID lockdown. Fun building a patio with no idea what you're doing, lol. Ordered a shit load of stuff from the local builders, Watched a few YouTube videos to become an *expert* too
lol, I'm alright for questions... But the little bugger knows he's being annoying, even his mam goes "Leave Michael alone, he's busy"... And "Michael what you doing? Michael what you doing? Michael what you doing? Rinse repeat ALL DAY LONG!" So....
lol, could be worse, you could be me... I've been working in the garden, relandscaping the lot, and all I hear all day when out there over a weekend is the neighbours bairn going "Michael, what you doing?", literally every 30 secs!!!
She's just been delivered today... Really nice hearing the start up jingle again! Not enough things jingle anymore! Screen isnt too bad, as the advert said it was a bit milky, but using it after a while, you don't notice but will replace it still!
max bit of 46 english snots... And... I've won it! \o/ yay Absolute bargain that... I'll sort the little chip and scratches out, and keep my eyes peeled for a new screen... But yeah... Happy little Win95 to go with my Win98 Toshiba Satellite 210CT!
I was having a browse on eBay, and spied this little fella... https://tinyurl.com/vvh5cd2b I've seen LGR review one, it was sitting at £41... With 4 minutes to go, and I've always wanted a little machine like it since... 3 seconds to go and I put in a...
