Good to see my Archimedes working after buying it from Ebay and the postal service damaging the monitor! A had to buy another CRT Monitor. Another one for 'Steve's Retro Computing Museum' lol.  :D

So can't you just check the paper guides before you print, lol?

dawlane

I don't think that it's down to the paper. Just checked the paper guides and it looks like they have drifted slightly after heavy use. Which would explain why it jams when the loading tray gets empty. And from what I've read this model of printer has been mentioned a few times for paper jams. Wish my Epson L555 didn't reach the end of it's service life, or no longer being supported on Linux. Now that was a good printer provided you printed off a test page once a week to prevent the ink drying in the head.

Steve Elliott

I'm using regular A4 designed for "laser and inkjet paper".

Steve Elliott

I agree the back rest is too narrow. But like I said I've not had a problem in double sided printing. Maybe your paper is too thick?

dawlane

It actually happens when there is not much paper in it. Part of me thinks that it's the paper quality or a design flaw with the paper back rest, which to me seems a bit too narrow.

Steve Elliott

dawlane it sounds like you're over filling the paper tray. No problems yet.

Derron

refillable cartridges have the benefit of being cheap ... but sooner or later you might have issues with the print headers  ...says industry. Am running old brother printers here (MFC J-series). Albeit ink cartridges became a bit more expensive these days (20pcs for 10 eur) they do what they should (over wifi, A3 print...). Yet I can still refill with a syringe. Remember that too old ink can have effects too.

dawlane

2025-01-15, 20:43:53
I've got the same printer. Be prepared for a few paper jams when doing double side printing.

Steve Elliott

2025-01-15, 18:34:39
see through the printer's ink windows.

Steve Elliott

2025-01-15, 17:09:24
Bought a new printer (EPSON ET-2850). I got sick of spending a fortune on 2 very small cartridges (black and colours) that had tiny amounts of actual ink in them! This system has large bottles (especially the black) that will last far longer and replacement bottles are full of ink without all the plastic cartridge nonsense - just fill up the ink reservoirs (which you can see through their windows).

Steve Elliott

2025-01-15, 15:36:33
Haha yeah typical Nintendo cash-in  :(  On the plus side they should produce the Switch 2 a bit cheaper and it's a higher resolution than the OLED on Switch 1.  ;D

Qube

2025-01-15, 13:47:40
What, no OLED screen? :o - They already have OLED on the updated switch and it makes no sense to go backwards to LCD screens again. Mind you, it makes sense so they can sell more Switch 2 units to the same people months later when they release the updated OLED version. Typical :P

Steve Elliott

2025-01-14, 09:51:16
Yes, bigger screen and controllers, more powerful, yet fully backward compatible with all software and there seems to be an optical sensor in the joycons - for mouse function?...It's a LCD, OLED will probably come down the line. Although LCD tech has improved since the LCD used in the original Switch. But yeah I would have preferred OLED.  ;D

Qube

2025-01-14, 08:53:39
Switch 2 has all the rumours if true to be a great new version ;D Hopefully a nice hires, high refresh OLED screen come true.

Also, if I'm bored driving, I might on the odd occasion people at the odd random and wave... They always wave back, but I know they'll be thinking "Who hell was that?" :D hehehe

Steve Elliott

2024-12-29, 15:53:32
Well I currently work from home a lot and my wife is semi retired so we have the time. Rescue doggies can be mad, but also soo loving and fun - rather than a new puppy.  :D

Steve Elliott

2024-12-29, 15:23:56
lol we have doggie but I'd rather her not barge in a cause some computer damage when we're out so we have a 'safety gate'.  After a few beers I turned the computer off, tripped and took out the gate, I went flying! Ofcourse the sensible thing would have been to have gone onto the landing and turned on the light first, but couldn't be bothered making 2 trips. Luckily I didn't fall down the stairs in complete darkness! :o

What's Framework!? :-[

Derron

2024-12-22, 13:22:47
You might not use "framework" and thus include some library which is a malware indicator (ability to zip, manipulate registry, ...). Feel free to compile some basic app with framework command ...and then add some modules, compile, upload and check .. until you find the culprit.

Derron

2024-12-22, 13:21:36

Could be, might not be, probably may have been... Who knows! Tools like these just simply get hammered all the time, Blitz3D gets hammered, Blitz , AGK, GLBasic, B4X... Some big guns of the game cannot escape false positives.

Baggey

2024-12-21, 15:27:52
Back up and running again! There appears to be a Malware version of BlitzmaxNG!?

Dabz

2024-12-21, 13:02:55
Phwoaaar, your having a right rough one there mind... All in the name of keeping you and your PC "safe", AKA causing you grief and not being able to do what you want to do! \o/ yay for progress ;)

Baggey

2024-12-21, 11:44:39
Just installed malwarebytes and found 19 infections? Re-Booted my system cant even run BlitmaxNG Now!?

Dabz

2024-12-21, 11:01:59
Are you getting false positives? Is like, Defender poking it nose in where it isnt wanted on the basis there "might", and I emphasis the word "might" be a threat. If so, it happens to many bits of software that are fine, basically, it's more of a hindrance then an actual help, because what that says to me is basically, it doesnt know itself, but stopping you use the software... Pretty much how a weather man says there is 50% chance of rain... Again, to me, they don't actually know, flip of a coin if you get pissed on... Give me £70k a year and I can tell anyone that! :D

Baggey

2024-12-21, 10:50:51

@Qube Oh, and then you have my faves, the ones that go "If you put in X feature and Y feature I might use it!".... Oh really, is that right mate. As if them using whatever would make my life complete and I should be thankfuk... Erm, not here, because when people do that, straight away I think "To be honest marra, I'd rather you didnt!" and just ignore them! :D

Qube

2024-12-20, 18:03:48
Open sourcing abandoned projects is 99% of the time the death knell for that product. Too many scream "open source it" and once they see have a tiny look at the source code they either go very quiet or happily prompt others in what *should* happen :))

Baggey

2024-12-20, 16:48:19
Dont put it opensource! Keep your hard work to yourself. Unless it's a good trade. ;)

Dabz

2024-12-20, 14:46:58
Well this is it, but, hate to say it, but look at Max3D, over 100 people in a thread was like "Put it opensource Mark, we'll look after", and he did, but, only two if I recall had the capability of taking over, and they eventually got tired. But that was typical, one minute some user is posting in the beginners section on how to find a tile under the mouse in an isometric tilemap, and the next thing, they are 3D engine Gods!?! Gods of talking shite in the most part, and there's me thinking I'm bad, but I know my limits. Mark knew my thoughts on community based stuff too... Not sure if you saw the monetization topic over on the forum. It all starts bright, chatty and breezy, then it all just gets abandoned, happens ALLLLLLLLL the time! Not to sound negative, but, that's what I see when it comes to this... Like, I hope I'm wrong in fact, totally wrong! Time will tell!!!

Maybe someone will pick up on LibSGD and continue..you never know..

Dabz

2024-12-20, 11:11:20
Oh it's fine, it was coming along champion, the idea was Mark would hit V1.0 with LibSGD at Christmas, which was the cue that, he was happy, and there would be no more big changes, with LibSGD or Blitz3D... Which would then open the door for me to write some sort of [shoddy] lexer and parser and make auto complete actually live, as in, user defined stuff like types, object (inc members), functions etc etc... That was going to be my special Christmas coding ball ache, but, aye... Anyhoo, I've had a think about it, and... Well, the tool bag is open again and the hammer is out! ;) hehehe

Baggey

2024-12-20, 08:04:19

Dabz

2024-12-19, 11:17:54
Hey Bags... Well, Launchpad was supposed to be a tool that works alongside LibSGD, it was very specific that way... So at the moment, due to the obvious sad circumstances of late, it really isnt viable as a download in it's current form, which at the mo', there is no use for the forums in the current state of play either, that might change, if I decide to do something else with it, or someone takes up the baton for LibSGD, I'll see how it pans out me auld fruit! ;)
