  • Pfaber11: Yes indeed hats off to sir Clive Sinclair and his game changing ideas.

  • Steve Elliott: RIP Sir Clive Sinclair :(

  • therevills: Thanks Dawlane :)

  • dawlane: I would compare specs from the manufactures website. If the specs match, then I would buy. But the old modules were matched pairs, then the new should also be matched pairs.

  • therevills: Since my board is pretty old now (4 years), the ASUS QVL really only shows discontinued products.

    Would this be compatible?

    [link]

Corsair is normally compatible with a lot so I dont think it matters too much, but normally I like to get what's on the QVL list ;)

  • Steve Elliott: Ordered another Competition Pro Joystick. So 1 for the C64 and 1 for the Speccy. A Megadrive Gamepad for the Spectrum Next.

  • Steve Elliott: A4 is too large, A5 is a better size to pick up and refer to.
    September 11, 2021, 11:12:13
  • iWasAdam: Amiga one had a superb large a4 ring bound manual
    September 11, 2021, 06:53:06
  • Steve Elliott: Yes, it's got a fantastic reputation for speed.  I had an Atari ST but I never had GFA BASIC, a mate did (but eBay lol).  I had Fast BASIC, Hisoft BASIC and STOS.  For those wondering, the manual had RED paper and black ink!

  • iWasAdam: Gfa basic and compiler - the fastest thing for the Amiga back in the day
    September 10, 2021, 20:18:01
  • Steve Elliott: GFA BASIC, what were they thinking with the manual :O I know they were trying to prevent piracy, but when the customers who buy the thing suffer too, bad move.

  • therevills: Hey @Dawline - whats the file integrity check for?
    September 10, 2021, 11:23:37
  • dawlane: @therevills - Once you have the memory replaced, you should read up on and do a file integrity check.
    September 08, 2021, 12:10:05
  • therevills: @Dawlane - you were right, I had a faulty memory module... first one in all the time I've built my own PCs :(
    September 08, 2021, 10:50:24
  • Steve Elliott: Yeah pointers are great, but you can get some spectactular crashes if there's a bug lol.  Seems to be working ok now though.
    September 08, 2021, 09:43:51
  • Kryzon: The two bad things that can happen with raw points: point to an address of a deleted object (segfault), or points to null but the object wasn't deleted properly (leak).
    September 08, 2021, 06:43:54
  • Kryzon: @Steve pointers are a really cool and useful feature, but you gotta be careful if it's a raw pointer (can eventually point to a deleted object/null value, which can happen when the pointer is shared and you don't know if someone deleted what it points to), or if it's a "smart pointer" that cleans up after itself.
    September 08, 2021, 06:41:41
  • Steve Elliott: Fighting with pointers.  I  *think* I've won, but they always seem to have a sneaky attack just as you're walking away ;)
    September 07, 2021, 19:52:19
  • dawlane: I'd run a few memory and SSD tests to make sure it's not hardware first. I've not seen any issues on mine.
    September 07, 2021, 17:11:18
  • MikeHart: Running 20H2.
    September 07, 2021, 15:08:56
  • dawlane: Which Windows 10 build is affected?
    September 07, 2021, 11:56:54
  • MikeHart: Sometimes, I thought it was just a hickup of the system.
    September 05, 2021, 12:46:50
  • therevills: Anyone else experiencing new Windows10 bugs recently? I cant click on Shutdown via the Start menu.. and Copy/Paste via keyboard and context menu is dodgy on some apps (eg Sticky Notes) :(
    September 05, 2021, 11:18:46
  • Steve Elliott: At least you've got one, they're expensive on ebay.
    September 04, 2021, 09:03:14
  • 3DzForMe: Dreampt I got a fast Amiga the other night.... Think it mightve been a 2000 or 3000 variant. That's what comes of having an old 1084S stereo monitor as a trip hazard in the spare room/office.
    September 03, 2021, 18:35:44
  • Steve Elliott: Way of the Exploding Fist is looking great on Spectrum Next.
    August 31, 2021, 22:23:17
  • Steve Elliott: The ZX Spectrum Next is the new Amiga.
    August 30, 2021, 21:57:27
  • Pfaber11: A600 was my model 2 months after buying it Commodore went bust .
    August 29, 2021, 12:08:16
  • Steve Elliott: Yep, I wanted to buy an Amiga 1200, but the PC was the more sensible but boring choice.
