There is a list online, which lists some money of a 50 million Euro fund (of one year!) to support local development of games.
There seems to be a limit of 200.000 per title - but see what is developed hmm, I am not sure about all games requiring such a huge amount of supportive extra funding.

Tiny Thor receives 199.996 Euro - looks like some nifty gameplay packaged in 16bit visuals. Seems our retro-enthusiasts have still good chances :)

Bomb Bots Arena receives 103.752 Euro - and just judging the gameplay video it looks like some typical "unity"-project which ressembles some Bomberman ideas with "modern sports match"-presentation. Might be worth a play but dunno, makes me wonder why the BMVI decided to fund that, maybe because it pays local employees etc?

Autobahnpolizei Simulator 3 (so "motorway police simulator 3") receives 125.000 Euro - and this with no.1 and no.2 being under heavy critics for bugs etc. Maybe the content ("federal employees") is what it made worth to get funded.

There are more serious games listed too - but it is always interesting to look back in history. 10 years ago some game development got funded - and the games never released. Many companies still live the way of "federal money is easy money". Public funding is required to drive the development of local game developer companies but hmm still think it isn't the best solution to aid the companies / employees.

in France there is a tax for "medias" as long as you use a tv or computer with internet, you have no choice but to pay it (democracy and all that...), and they use the money to fund tv movies/series, and tv shows, and mainstream journalists, and they all praise each other how good their entreprises / creations are, what a load of crap :))
This is the GEZ / Gebuehrenzentrale in Germany. 55 Eur each 3 months. Has to be paid by all - and is only used for the public broadcast.
This funding here is for _commercial_ companyies, so no need for social engagement like employing disabled people or so. Money is thought to help companies funding more and more expensive game developments.
The games listed above might be done with heart blood and the will to create this very special game - but some oft them still do not look as if there should be 30 months of full-time work financed (assuming 5.000 € brutto a month - including insurances, and social taxes for the employer). Especially if they do not give the money to 100% fund a project but just to support it - means budget should be way way higher than eg 150.000 (30 months à 5.000).

Sorry I know it's an old thread but just wanted to say I think it's awesome there is this type of funding . 2.5 years at five grand a month sounds awesome . How and where do you apply ?
