Title: Doom Eternal
Post by: Steve Elliott on March 17, 2020, 16:39:57
The latest Doom reviews are coming in and it looks great...if you have a graphics card that can handle it.

I don't so that's me out, and I don't intend to upgrade anytime soon, so Doom 2016 it is for me - and a great blaster that is anyway.

Aren't they just?  8 Gb on your graphics card required for top settings!

Yeah he's usually good, but a bit too excited here.

I went to the Steam discussion forum hoping to enjoy some delicious salt from those for whom the game wouldn't run.
I was not disappointed.

Apparently some buyers didn't pick up that their 'gaming laptop' wasn't covered by the required specs.

I can recall buying Neverwinter nights 2 when I'd a PC that met the minimum spec - I was waiting years for hardware prices to tumble to the level where I could play it without too much laggy baggy gameplay. :-X

The cherry on top is that apparently the game requires you to register for a Bethesda account and was then giving a server error when people tried to do so.

My gfx card is below the system requirements (it is a 960m with 2GB), but since I have heard that the game works great on not so powerful machines, I just bought it today. Had to set the graphics config to low on all settings, but it runs well and... IT IS AWESOME. Doom 2016 is probably my favorite game of the last decade, and I am liking this sequel very much.
