Liberty BASIC looks famous.
It is a commercial software but the alpha testing of ver 5.0 is open to the public.
Some our members may be interested in it:

apparently it is only windows games (not full screen) ? (like JUST basic) ? Am I right ?
Well that link says it runs on other systems too.
i would like to say that your programs are windowed and not full screen
(sorry for my bad english)
I've looked at liberty basic a few years ago I think it was on thefreecountry.com . might just go and have a look.
Well I looked for it it's not on thefreecountry.com but there must be 20 basic iterations on there and I believe they are all free . No AGK on there though or dark basic. They describe liberty basic as a personal tool . Does this mean it's not a lot of cop.
let me know what you think if you try it . What's the documentation like etc.
Just decided to have a go on Liberty basic but ouch $120 . That's for the pro version. Not sure if there's a free demo version.
Joined the Liberty Basic forum and asked if it was any good for games and can be used for 2D games . Can do sprites . Would really love to see what it can do. I'm thinking AGK2 is probably better as it does 3D but can't really tell without trying it out and comparing the two. Is it worth the $120 dollars ?
Did you look into CerberusX (previously called MonkeyX)? It's free and has a small but very engaged community.
The language is also basic like with OOP.

And you can use it together with the AGK engine. Best of both worlds! :D But only win, osx and ios so far (CX+agk). In pure cx you have also linux, android, flash, winphone 8 and html.

I had a look at Liberty BASIC and after seeing command like "Call" it immediately reminded me of BASIC on the TI-99/4A :))
Liberty BASIC is old school BASIC and to be honest if I wanted a BASIC based language that could do both games and native GUI apps I'd go with something like PureBASIC over this as I'd say Liberty BASIC is aimed more at apps than games with it limited graphics / sound command set.

Yup, if you want something fast, free and very capable then there's always CerberusX :)
Yes I don't think I'll be spending any time with Liberty basic I think AGK is probably a much better system and it's British which is unusual and costs less . I like to think AGK has the potential to produce a commercial app or game as it already has for some people . With every programme I write I'm getting more skilled and am now writing much better stuff in a much smaller time frame . Just gotta keep the Ideas coming which isn't too difficult as other peoples ideas spark fresh ideas of my own. Bonjour .
Hi,
there is a liberty basic booster program (http://www.bbcbasic.co.uk/lbb/), by R. T. Russell, it is compatible with liberty basic version 4, but you should check the compatibility issues (http://www.bbcbasic.co.uk/lbb/lbb.html#compatibility).
Thing is agk2 is an awesome 3d and 2d language . Tier one is awesome. great documentation.

Agree to that. :)
I love these smaller Basic-variant based engines that are very simple to use and don't make you jump through hoops, but still give you enough freedom to do crazy things.
