In my defence I got the jab yesterday and brain is mush (headache and fever which are common) so can't really do much. Sorted screen fading and ability to have 2 players if only one joypad (player 1 gets the pad and 2 the keys) but thats about it. Also ordered a couple of buffalo retro gamepads as the ones I have are cheap and nasty. :P

Steve Elliott

It passes quickly.

Seriously?  You're writing games and you don't have any good game controllers?!   :o

Got lots of controllers, wii, Playstation and xbox but not a decent snes one.

Steve Elliott

I just use X-Box clone controllers - why not use your X-Box or PS Controllers?...They do have digital control as well as analog.

We already have mice and keyboards :)
Read there are games preferring this kind of input.

For SNES-controllers just use one of these cheap 2-3 euro clones, they should do.

A ridiculous answer from somebody that obviously doesn't actually play games or wants some comfortable experience (or only plays first person shooters/board/card games).  Or doesn't want extra features like rumble, force feedback or haptic feedback.

That's what I have and they're shite. The buffalo is the daddy (expensive too at £30 a pop), its my birthday so thought I'd treat myself.  :D

No ... Stevie G wanted an SNES controller ... and they do not have FF, rumble ... or similar stuff. They Are digital pads with 8 buttons.

I have other input elements (quest controllers, wii remotes, PS4 remotes) but on PC I prefer mouse and keyboard - as this suits to the games I (used to) play. And shooter games were not among them.

Hmm what is wrong with them? Of course "everbody there" produced them, so quality might differ from "crap" to "good". But we used a lot of these joypads with "Atomic Bomberman" and they worked a charm. Used a 8bitdo 2 weeks ago and had a lot of trouble (might of course be the bluetooth-chip of the laptop but shhhhh).

The cheaper ones I find are lightweight, not 100% responsive and struggle with diagonal precision. Its mainly d-pad related. Anyway, we'll see how the new ones are. I prefer using keys myself  ;D

Full game loop all working, All music in. Still unsure whether ill stick with retro 8bit sounds or add screams and splatters etc.. one for a few days to deadline.

Working on new enemies. Security guards and they're boss 'Chicco' who sports a white suit and red shirt. Maybe a sort of boss.

Below I'm face to face with lab security. He's meant to sort of colonial marine like.

Been messing around with colour variations, mainly for backgrounds for a bit of variety.  Added in a sort of star system where you get at least 1 for completing a stage but you might only get 1 star if you forget to collect all the evidence or are unable to save the civilians.

Added the boss character in. He regularly smacks his hands off the desk and can occasionally be found having a kip around the HQ.

In his office.
