V0.12 releases tomorrow. Shit load of new stuff in it too, including BBC support etc. You might also see a familiar face on the about screen :-)

What is more interesting is there is huge amounts of time spent with the UI and getting it simple and easy to use...  :'(

ooh 2 players...

- plug in 2 joystick - check
- joystick 0 is the left and 1 is the right - check
- oh no... joystick 0 is now the right and 1 is the left....
- oh no - the app decides on startup which is allocated to left and right - ok.....

- ok isolate joysticks so they can be either, but one is the dominant one... er check
- now activate the second joystick when it is wanted, otherwise the second car is an ai car... - WHAT - ok check....!
- activate the second joystick if the user wants 2 players and accept the joystick input instead of the AI - You're getting clever now...
- test and retest...

Who said making games was simples....  :'(

I think you're making it overcomplicated. Can't you just have a  menu screen where you have say, a red and blue car. Each one is assigned to the first and second read port respectively.  If a user then pressed a button / moves left or right on his port, the car assigned to that port is user controlled. So either player can play single player and the Ai becomes any cars not selected?

yep... that would be the simple way. but I'm dealing with very specific joysticks that need automatic setup and both operate with different controls:
1 uses hat, and 1 uses buttons plus axis - so both need to be able to work as either 1 or 2, and both must operate automatically ;(

I've not factored other makes of joystick yet, but those would just be a case of being added to the respective code ;)
