Very true though, they hunt IP offenders out, so much, so Hasbro, who are part of their group [or vice versa, cannot remember which is the parent], slapped a C&D on Kitty Hello, the developer of GLBasic, he made an "Operation" [Your the doctor] type game, he made the mistake of putting "Operation" in his apps tags on the app store and wallop... Lawyer letter!!!

I mean, yes, it is one of their trademarks, which he managed to keep away from regarding everything else, but it was that minor detail that got him... A bloody tag!!! :/

I would not agree with that. unless a game is ripping off an IP then there is no reason for a C&D. The example dabz posted is an example of how over zealous these companies can get when "Protecting" their IPs

You'd be surprised how many companies seem to think that every word in the English language belongs to them, just because they managed to get some half-witted government pen pusher to sign off on a trademark for what would be common words.
You've got King Digital Entertainment going after every Tom, Dick and Harry for using the word 'Saga' in any product, many not even software related, because they slapped a trademark in the US, probably because they convinced someone that Saga isn't a common word. Same goes for Hasbro with Battleship, which was possibly why the film was total bollocks with the amount of crap the studio had to go through to just use the title, leaving them with very little money left to hire decent writers after paying Rihanna, the director and the special effect team their cut.

I'm surprise that Hasbro/MB haven't started demanding royalties for every hospital referral letter that mentions 'Operation' any where within the text.

lol very true.  Actually, with every action the current owners of the Atari brand make they ruin it's original heritage ever more.  I find that very sad and really annoying...And they are now going to be associated with a language called Wonkey?
