Been watching quite a few uTube videos about the upcoming ARM Mac's and it could prove to be a very very good path for Apple to take.

I still hold that if x86 virtualisation to run Windows like you can at the moment ( Parallels / VMWare ) sucks or is non existent then that will take the wind out the sails massively. Hopefully more detail on this will be coming / leaked soon.

Yes like I said before, I think Apple are innovating here for the first time since the original Mackintosh, so could for the first time in years show a clear difference between PC and Mac.  The built-in features to the system on a chip working together on the same silicon and being able to optimize software and hardware (because they produce both) could be massive.  Plus they're opening up to games developers at last.

Could we imagine (dream) that BlitzmaxNG could be adapted to that new Apple ARM (using the 'new' Xcode) and that this could allow to devellop on such Mac directly targeting IOS/Mac in one build ?
Does it imply to have a SDL framework converted as well ?

The x86 Rosetta does exactly what they say it does. It's fast and perfect!!!

Butto move to native compilation would be great. I'm looking into it at the moment...

Incase people don't know, Adam has an early Apple ARM Developer's Machine.

The legendary Brucey has had Blitzmax NG and Xcode working before to compile on IOS - I know as I helped him test it on a couple of my old games. I suspect he'll be in there like swimwear on this one. I'm sure he's still lurking around these forums somewhere and might pitch in. Think he loves Macs as much as myself, Qube and Adam.

lol I find it strange that (as a big critic of Apple practices) I'm gravitating towards Apple computers.  Mainly because they've started innovating in hardware again (rather than stealing tech and slapping a UI on it)...Letting Windows users develop for the Mac and trying to encourage game developers, plus Microsoft's Windows 10 is horrible compared to Windows 8.1...Apple will always be over priced, charge developers to put software on their hardware (which I'm not happy about) and change things without looking at all the angles.  But instead of just looking good (form over function) they will run very fast with cool temperatures too on ARM.  I'm glad they've forced the issue (at last) regards 64-bit Operating Systems - even the £30 Raspberry pi now runs a 64-bit OS.  Linux is 64-bit only too.  In 2020 ALL software should be 64-bit.

I have a plan going forward \o/ ... Ditch my iMac 27", grab the latest Mac Mini and get a really good monitor. When the Apple Silicon ones are released grab another Mac Mini and plug that into the monitor too and switch between them as and when needed.

Use some whizzy software to allow one keyboard and mouse between the two Mac Mini's. When the time comes to upgrade then I can just replace the box and retain the monitor saving a tonne of cash ;D

As I don't play AAA games on the Mac ( or indeed Windows ) then I'm not concerned about the integrated GPU's as they are more than plenty for my needs. Off to do some monitor research :P

That's what another user in the forums did. Ask Morpheus about his setup. 3 monitors on a Mac mini which is mostly the highest spec possible, including a GPU. He'll have to replace the mini with a new one when the Arm ones come in but I assume the GPU will still work.

Meanwhile, if you're offloading that iMac in your sig then give me a decent price ;-)
