That's why I have a mountain bike and swapped out the tyres.  It's essentially a hybrid now.  Decent road-going tyres which can also handle a bit of the gravelly stuff if need be.  Plus the mountain bike drivetrain/triple chainrings gives a wide range of gears for speed, and for getting up hills.  I've been up 17% inclines on mine (I wouldn't say "with ease" - it was hell, but I did it), and on flat/downhill I've had it up to over 30mph and that was with knobbly tires on.

I keep getting flat tyres after getting a new bike. I had to redo a patchjob once. Then it was emtpy again. I could not find any air coming out of it though and the tire has stayed full since that.

I noticed some glass on the road a couple of days ago and ofcourse I went through it yesterday.

I just finished a 3.3 hour session of indoor rowing. I am trying to do 4 hours a day of that including some dumbell and curlbar reps every 30 minutes.  On rest days I try to do several exercises with the power tower.

I learned the bike shop that service my road bike over inflated the back tyre, it literally burst just sitting in the sun in the back garden. Nearly shit myself. My daughter was on it doing over 20mph an hour earlier, glad it didn't let go while we were out on it.

Erm, yeah changing the subject quickly, like I said:

@gfk, yes sir, we'll have to meet up for a bike ride, If I recollect, your out Boston way. In other news.... I've learned to exceed 10 mph on a fartlecking session, after a 1 mile warm up jog with the dog. It's been a fecking journey, 18 months ago I was off work for 3 months after suspected dengu fever Post a state's visit.

Yep, more towards Coningsby.  Sounds like a plan for when the pubs/cafes reopen though you'd probly leave me for dead.  I'm averaging about 14mph atm on a 30 mile ride, bit less if it's windy.

Tried going North from Byards leap up the High dyke, rear slick=puncture after half a mile! 30 miles is a good stretch, and 14 mph avg is about right for my 2 decade old mountain bike!

Haven't suffered a puncture yet!  But I've got my aluminium-core tyre levers (Continental tyres were a pig to get on and plastic tyre levers were little help) and CO2 canisters, just in case.

Squeezed in a quick 8.5 miles tonight and managed to get an average pace of 15mph for the first time, despite a 12mph headwind for a lot of the way.  Only done 18 miles this week and the weather turns tonight, but I'm on a rest week anyway.  Think I might up my ride distance to 40 miles next week and hit Skegvegas.  20 miles out, chippy dinner, 20 back! ;D
