Odd variant on game design eg Doom, Diablo etc
« on: April 27, 2020, 01:56:46 AM »
Morning people.

Here's a weird idea for a computer game.

Most of us know the premise behind games like Doom or Diablo.  Place one hero controlled by the player up against hordes of dark creatures.

Here is a variant.

Same premise except the player's avatar in game is a sentient, conscious AI and as such does not wish to place itself in harm's way by entering the level and facing the monsters.

The player's job then becomes to convince the character to enter the level or dungeon through some means of persuasion.

For example the player may try to convince the character that they are an expert player who can avoid all the pitfalls and get the character to the victory area.

Or they may use fear and fire warning shots in the direction of their avatar to convince them that if they don't enter the dungeon the player will shoot them him or herself.

A weird variant on the typical level based one versus many game.

From Matt.
