Space stations (BBC Elite style)
« on: April 05, 2020, 12:49:30 AM »
Hi,

Stations are larger then the other craft.

I've been doing the radar from 0->128,256,512 units which works fine for the crafts, which are relatively small.

If I have a space station on  the radar, I'm using the centre, then because it's large it may be in the 'wrong' position on the radar by some degree. i.e. if it's 80 by 80 then when I dock it will be 40 units away on the radar.

How do I fix this and keep some realism?

Thanks, Jim.

hi, i guess if your station is 80x80.

it would have to be subtracted from your distance 80/2 = 40

distance = Dist(center to ship) - radio (space size/2).

but I don't know if it's a 3D or 2D game, I don't know if you use XY or XYZ and if you use sprites or entities.

if you put more data i would like to help
