Yes you're right when I had my go at python 6 months ago to produce the sort of games I wanted I would of had to learn Panda3D as well which I found too overwhelming . They do say it's not for beginners but then where do you start Panda3D . I've always looked as C++ as the holy grail of programming languages but I think as far as providing an end product AGK and PB are pretty damned good .  I believe Panda3D works with C++ as well as python.
Celeron N3060 1.6 ghz duel core  4 Gb ram 32 gig storage  HD400 Graphics 160 gig external hard drive....

Yes, there is also the fact languages like AGK/Blitz are more aimed at hobbyist programmers so are easier to get to grips with.  If you're using C++ then engine suppliers assume a pretty high standard of programming expertise.
