pi4 and cooling

Sadly no update from the RetroPie Emulation Software guys (or AGK) for the pi4, but my use of the Flirc Cases for passive cooling is justified.  I have the standard version that looks more classy, rather than this painted-up version.  Plus there's a software update to help with cooling.



Windows 10, 64-bit, 16Gb RAM, CPU Intel i5, 3.2 GHz, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (2Gb).
MacOS Mojave, 64-bit, 8Gb RAM, CPU Intel i5, 2.3 Ghz, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB.
Linux Mint 19.1, 64-bit, 16Gb RAM, CPU Intel i5, 3.2 GHz, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (2Gb).
Raspberry pi4 4Gb RAM

Quite surprised that RetroPie hasn't been updated for the pi4 yet :(

Have you done any throttling test between the passive cooling vs fan-shim?

Yes RetroPie are usually all over a new pi update so clearly some major headaches bringing RetroPie to pi4, AGK hasn't received a pi4 version either.

The difference between passive and fan-shim temperatures are minimal as was shown in this test (and much better protection for the pi with the Flirc case).  I always have the temperature displayed on the task bar and it never gets to throttling speeds (80 degrees) it's about half that.  I used a Flirc case on the pi3 before the pi4 version, they control the temperatures very well in deed are are completely silent over a fan based system.
