SmileBASIC (Nintendo Switch dev suite)

SmileBASIC/PetitComputer is a superbly written retro Basic language with oodles of additional functionality.
Next Thursday, 23rd April 2020, the Switch edition will be releasing worldwide (afaik) onto the eShop.

Plug a USB keyboard and mouse (or use the onscreen one, but you all know how onscreen keyboards are for coding) into your switch and you're good to go.

2D sprite, drawing buffers, text layers and more.
The 2D sprite functionality handles any size sprite, does real-time scale, rotation, alpha, colour tint, etc.

A sprite editor and tile map editor are available.
Sounds are somewhat limited to a selection of premade sounds, although there's functionality to generate your own audio.
Music can be selected from a similar collection of inbuilt tracks, or make your own, using MML commands.

Syntax is ...  BASIC!

If you're a fan of the speed and power Blitz2D/Max, (and if you're here, then you are!) this will be right down your alley.

Out next Thursday.

Badly written example
