Raspberry pi 4 goes gold!

Also available in black, for people that want a passive cooling solution for their pi4. It won't keep the pi4 as cool as a fan solution, but seems it will keep it under throttling temperatures. Out of stock but just click on notify me, in my experience they do pretty quickly.

The case I currently use has much better airflow, not as tall and has a fan that keeps the pi4 very cool indeed - plus the fan is extremely quiet. The only real advantages I see is this case/heatsink would made it completely quiet and protect the pi4 much better (or if you like shiny gold). My case has the fan unprotected, so you couldn't just throw it in a pocket.

- So you shove it in a case and you can't tel anymore that it's gold

- Looks nice with just the heatsink on though.

lol. Interesting to see there's now a Flirc case for the pi4. I used a Flirc case with the pi3, it's also a case and heatsink in one and is very nice looking. Again it's far more protective than the case and fan Qube and I have, so if that's important to you it might be worth considering.

just curious : what do you guys use this (raspberry pi) for ? (i only use arduino boards and atmega chips, for all the circuits that i have designed / assembled, so far...)

maybe as an alternative computer ? can you be anonymous on the internet with that ? (i suppose that there are less tracking softwares than on regular pcs ?)

Currently I'm using it as a second computer that takes up next to no room, with a small wireless keyboard and mouse.. I can view the internet on the pi4's screen while also doing some work on the main computer, I don't know if it's particularly anonymous. Later I want to code on it and see what performance I can get out it's modest fixed hardware. The neat 128Gb Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive makes it easy to transfer files between systems to help with that.

Also waiting on Retropie for pi4 to use as an arcade machine emulator.

If I had the silver Flirc case then this looks like a very snazzy replacement to my current Cruzer Blade:

My go-to case for Raspberry pi is the Flirc case. It worked very well for my pi3 and other models. Passive cooling through a combined heatsink and case. It also looks fantastic, with a smooth tactile finish on top of the aluminium.

At last it's available for pi4 and I should receive mine in the next couple of days.

It's probably not going to keep my pi4 round 40 degrees like my current case and fan combination, but I'm sure it will be completely silent, prevent overheating and throttling back of the CPU, protect the pi much much better and look better.
