Given the closeness of the results, I would like Qube to add my winnings to the pot of the next competition (assuming there is one), or...
have a one-off class 'B' category next time i.e. biggest prize fund for class 'A' entrants as usual, and a smaller prize fund for class 'B', where programmers can only enter one category or the other. (I'm wondered if a class 'B' might help attract extra entries that could otherwise be put off going head-to-head with high end graphics, sound & music.)

Congrats all! Top games again for the Bomb!  :D

Very generous of you sir!

It's your money and suggestion so ok, but the simpler graphics did really well in the comp.  So is there really a need to split the competition?

What a great competition and well done to everyone who had a crack at it. I'm hoping that there's been enough interest that more people will have a go for the next one. I'm definitely not burnt-out and fancy competing again - and planning to do a lot better.

I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me and gave me feedback. I'm very lucky to have scraped third because the real top 3 games were much better efforts than me just putting a remake into the competition and tying it into whatever TV show I could think of. I've said previously that I regret that and I'll definitely do something a lot more original next time.

Freeman69, your game was frankly a great effort at doing something a bit different, and your generosity in donating the top prize back into the pool for the next competition should be commended. I still can't get my head around the fact that you're using BBC basic to some extent. It just goes to show that it's the coder who can do great things even without modern tools.

I've got to say I'm not sure about having two separate competitions, though. It could potentially cause confusion for people entering, means having two prize pools, and also may discourage people from entering as they would be uncertain if they should go for the great-game or throw it into the lower category to maybe have a better chance. Additionally, with two competitions you saturate the entries and if, like this competition, you only have 6 total entries, then it's not really a competition as everyone is a winner.

I could be in the minority here where I consider games to be mostly about the game-play rather than just looking the business. I think mostly this competition wasn't judged so much on how a game looked than how it played and technically clever it was. If that is what we're mostly appreciating then all the games should still be in one competition as they are currently and be judged on their greatness together.

I'm curious to hear what Qube's idea is on this. And I believe it's up to Freeman69 to decide on the subject and conditions of the next game, as he won the competition? Let's hear what he has in mind for the next competition theme, too :-)

Yours was a fun game and it plays well. I certainly enjoyed it so don't think any less of completing a game :)

There won't be two separate competitions. As you said, that would saturate things.

I've created a thread for members to put their plans forward https://www.syntaxbomb.com/index.php/topic,4450.0.html

If a general consensus is reached then that will be the comp. I try to avoid having the winner pick the next theme as some may think that they have already finished or in the middle of the suggested game / theme and thus has an unfair advantage. Thus I try to make sure everyone has the same start as much as I can :)
