Anybody else been gripped by the recent live court case broadcasts about Facebook with Mark Zuckerberg?
I've been finding it particularly fascinating to watch.

I honestly think companies like facebook and twitter have genuinely been screwing up our societies and how people in general interact with each other. I hope they get what is coming to them.

Anybody not up to speed, here is an interesting video about previous facebook employees, admitting that they were manipulating the psychology of humans for gain and profit, despite the consequences.

I've barely used social media since the beginning but even now I'm annoyed that with my sister and close friends, even when I message them, they rarely reply / say they are too busy or whatnot, and yet their social media is full of content. I basically have to find out what everyone has been doing second hand instead of actually communicating to people like a normal person.

..i believe, they are designed to do exactly that..how easy is to manipulate and control disjointed society ?? Very easy. And here you go, wonderful tool do to exactly that, among other things. Such disjointed and fragmented society will never be able to see/consolidate itself against major source of all problems, every single one of us is facing every day, in various forms...banks. Economy this..economy that..wars all around..why?? Who actually benefit of it?? well..banks and those who control them. How they can do all that, without anyone getting after them on any organized, structural, solid way?? Just mess up societies and cut off bonding between people, which is what social media does, perfectly...

Manupilative amoral companies like FB are just a symptom of the underlying problem, which is that 90% of humans are extremely greedy selfish amoral beings.
As long as you can gain wealth with these methods, people will use them. Never going to change.

This is a mic drop moment.

Zuckerberg walks into this trap, first question, he's asked if he would like to share what hotel he stayed in last night, and he defiantly says NO.

And of course that's exactly what facebook does, gives that information out to the whole world without your consent. LOL.

Unsurprisingly comments are disabled for the above video.

I think part of the the rage towards it comes from the fact that Zuckerberg has a very punchable face.

FACEBOOK = NO PRIVACY

I just hate Facebook, companies like Facebook should be shutted down immediately for playing with the privacy of the people and for creating political instability.

Facebook is just the tip of the iceberg and the first to get caught out red handed.
ALL major tech companies where their business model requires any use of the internet are all doing exactly the same thing, some worse.

I've been to many many cyber-security meetings and its shocking how many people aren't yet aware that all the data sharing is an OPT-OUT policy. The whole problem can be erased by simply having an OPT-IN policy, but we all know that when there's money involved then there are vested interests in keeping that money rolling in as fast as possible.

I never registered to facebook with my real details.. they know too much already..
and i recommend no one to do that either.

the funny about facebook is that they dare to demand your real details as if they are some government agency..
they should encourage the opposite..

"Do not put your real details.."

I think we need a new Facebook that will not publically allow sharing your personal photos aka details.. and so on.

many lives has being ruined due to facebook.. and Im talking daily..

people should have the freedom to say what they like, without being sued ... attacked.. and so on.

You do realise don't you - and so should everyone - that use of facebook is completely optional.

Giving your personal private details to a faceless corporation is your personal decision.

It's no different than complaining your nude pics were shared among people if you sent them to an ex-partner...you can't really complain given you're the one providing the information to a business whose entire goal is to make sharing your information its core business - which is known before you even sign up.

ENAY

Speaking of nude pics, didn't facebook only last year have a scheme where

THEY ASKED YOU

to send them nude pics of yourself in an effort to combat revenge porn. I wish I was making that up.

Luckily I don't use my real name or details anywhere, even then I know for a fact somewhere my details are stored. The battle is to be as shifty as possible. Suffice to say I never have any spam or even direct mail sent to me on any of my devices.

It's just the general public do NOT do this, which is the problem.

What I do find ironic and is the mess we are in now, in that these tech companies. ALL of them lean left and yet even despite google, facebook and all the tech companies being in favour of open borders, globalisation, Hillary Clinton etc. They had a bias over the whole world and yet it went against them spectacularly. The center and right have taken control the eco system and tools from the left and used it against them to better effect.

It seems in hindsight amazing, that despite all facebook's attempts to censor and obscure reality to favour their agenda, it had the opposite effect. Who made Donald Trump so popular? They did. By never shutting about him, 24/7

Never underestimate the oldest human skill. SPITE! :)

As the old saying goes, censorship has and always will have the OPPOSITE effect.
Just look at Barbra Streisand effect. lol

Yes, I wish it would shut down.  I wish all the social media would shut down.  If you want to talk to me there are forums (like this! :) ) and email.  If it's not worth the time to write me an email it is probably not worth the time to read about.  And there are people who text all. day. long.  About what?!  Ugh.  Can't we just sit in silence?  I can enjoy the sunset or my lunch without sending a picture to everyone I know. /RANT

I've had little to no interest in FB/Twitta once they started sorting the news feed.  I don't need to be told I'm a bad dog or my opinions are wrong.  I know I'm a monster.  Someone on FB called me that once.  Why oh why didn't I screencap that?!

I wish they would go out of business so I don't have to explain to people why I don't want to waste my time on there.  Early adopter, early un-adopter I guess.

Too bad most people will never learn free things aren't worth the cost.  Oh, they are selling your info?  Why else would it be free?! lmao  Do people usually make huge companies worth billions of dollars just to benefit awesome wittle you?  The internet has forever tarnished the meaning of the word 'free'.  Unfortunately no one will pay for anything that cost 1 cent or more, so now you get ads on your ads, with ads on them.  Which kind of ads on your ads about ads would you most like to see?

I actually was sort of forced to register to FB with my real name(something I've always resisted) for there's some far cousin of mine, who's having the exact same name as I do, so when employers would look and find him it wouldn't be representative for me.
