While Qube wrote he is hosting the forum himself (home hosting) it often needs a business account (more expensive than consumer accounts) if you do it on a "commercial base" (the definition is really vague - especially if you ask the lawyers wou want to sue you :p). So they might from then to now close his account if he creates too much traffic. But this of course depends on his provider-contract.

Current on BT Business with fixed IP address and I pay the extra for truly unlimited traffic. I did query that extra charge to make sure it was truly unlimited with no throttling and they said there was no limit or throttling for that extra package. But if the time arises that we need a dedicated server at a datacenter then yup, no problems with that side of things.

There is a untold reason for not posting certain things everywhere: porn, real cruelty, serious accidents. There is also a kind of individual barrier - which I think we should be allowed to cross. So I do not have problems with nudity (as it is "normal") (not talking about spread legs, but breasts, even a beaver is something you could see when people go swimming in the ocean, or change clothes...). Also I do not have issues watching a tree falling on a house. But maybe it is not a good idea to link videos of spy cams in wardrobes or people breaking their wrists, knees, ... when doing "stupid" stunts. Nonetheless it is always a matter of individual tastes and especially things you got used to see - differs a lot comparing "North America", "South America", Western Europe, Russia, Asia ... and so on. Different cultures, different views to what is approbriate or not.


Thinking of above you might come to the consense of just posting "what fits all" (least common denominator). But I would assume that it's safe to post things for "12 yrs and above" (so partial nudity is least of our problems :-)).

A pity I can no longer find the article about age of people starting coding. It grew from 11-13 to later as people do no longer need to know that much about computers.


On the other hand I think it is more easier for youngsters - if interested - to start programming as they have plenty plenty of choices. I mean, it is really common now to read things now like "I use Unity as I started with it in the 5th grade" - and you know how long Unity and the likes are available at all.

12 years is a age which should (in average) enable you to distinguish "fiction" from "reality" (not talking about fakes vs reality) on a basic level. A real accident is a real accident and might be not the best thing to watch - while pixel retro blood might _show_ the same, but in a different style.


I know the video you linked - and while we think "ouch - stupid boy has big luck" a young person might just respond with "Haha". Dunno if that is the intention.

One would think 'tender soles' are something of the past with all the access to the most horrific and nasty sh*t on the internet to anyone from (too) young age already. But contrary seems to be true: there's a tendency towards a new kind of prudeness.

E.g: there was a live radioshow and one of these young singer/songwriter girls was singing her "creation". The DJ's of the show pulled a tasteless prank on her letting a streaker in the crowd dance to her music and she totally freaked out, screaming "Ehw, so dirty!" - ran of stage and started crying. 

Now I think this a way over the top childish and immature reaction, even though it was rather tasteless and stupid 'prank'. But.. I'm born in the 70's(my wonder years) where anything was possible so I don't understand this kind of behavior/reaction. 

Appears everything is reacted to overly sensitive (e.g. #metoo, and yeah rape is bad, but a flirt or pass that's rejected , misunderstanding is *not* the same as rape, just unpleasant for *both* sides), while on the other hand if you look at these outrages, aggressive politicians, the things being said in public and people having more outrages drinks, drugs &  s*x parties at young age then ever before, then I'm confused about what makes people tick nowadays. Has everyone lost common sense and gone stark raving mad??

I think everybody has to loosen up a bit and not take themselves so incredibly serious, for pain is part of life and that's difficult enough already. - Let's make love not war.

Are there other Chrome users around?

Somehow I get more and more annoyed from the Wysiwyg-input form here in these forums. It borks up in nearly every situation. Pasting a link from the "URI-bar" (so unformatted text!) - looks fine, but when posted it became small text. When using the backspace key, it reduces font size of the upcoming line too. When doing a single line break, it becomes two when switching to non-wysiwyg-mode - or when posting content.
And other minor glitches.

Can someone add a "non wysiwyg mode" to the profiles? I want to avoid switching it off on every post I do - I almost everytime forget it as the "looks" of both modes are too similar to get auto-reminded.

Before someone is saying: "yes I am using chrome and it works" - I run it on Linux and on Android (tablet and smartphone). All of them have the very same issue.

I've turned off the wysiwyg from automatically being selected. As reported, it's going to be replaced in version 2.1 so you can test it then
