Can I just moan on about bloody windows here?

Thanks....

Compiling nice and straight, then up pops 'windows must restart'. NO I DONT WANT TO RESTART.

So windows get narky and blacks the entire screen and suspends compiling. Need to shut down the app and restart.

Way to go MS....!!!!!

Go Macs... (Snow leopard) boots up in a flash, it's as quiet as the proverbial mouse and has never kept me waiting while it updates. The perfect programming platform or what, have fun cps.

Hmm, this just seems like fake news in my eyes.  I've never had this problem.

Windows says I need to update, I say not yet and that is the end of the matter.

My windows restart depend on an update without to ask me.
I never had this before but....okay it was in energy-safe mode.
But I am surprised by this behavior.

You're probably set up to do auto updates...I've never had Win 10 reboot me in the middle of something without a prompt.

I recommend setting your network connection for "metered" connection. That will stop that auto-updating crap.

I've had the computer reset on me while sleeping (I have processes running while I sleep) and I've had it bother me every 10 minutes to reset when I wasn't interested. So I understand the frustrations of dealing with this OS.

just to assure everyone - the windows 10 is running in VMWare, so it might have something to do with that. I'm strictly a Mac guy from now on.

Also helps to set Quiet Hours,  but then again if you're a coder you might be on at odd hours. lol

So basically man buys a mac.

He also requires Windows but doesn't bother to buy a pc.

Instead he installs some mac software to allow Windows to run on his machine.

So when typing on his over priced computer he can blame Windows.  And does so as loud as possible!

Everybody on a real PC shouts I've never had that problem!

Mac user quietly admits the fact it might have been dodgy mac software.

People not reading what he has said continue to think it's Microsoft's problem.

Typical Apple fanboy bullshit lol  :P

Steve, I repair computers for a living. I've seen issues like the described above and I'm very fluent with Windows. A black screen occurring as described is usually caused by the power issues or overheating. However, this sounds like the program went black, which would indicate a GDI memory leak. Windows Explorer in several Windows 10 builds has a GDI leak, which could also have been the cause. Either way, there's nothing you can do directly to fix latter issues.

Steve, This isn't a personal attack on anyone using windows. And for your information I do have a proper pc as well!!!!!!

I didn't say is was a personal attack on users Adam, it's just Apple peeps seem to love Windows bashing.

But guys, you really have to appreciate Windows is extremely popular compared to mac os, and so has to run on many many configurations (old and new).  Where as Apple 'cheat' and take the easy route by only supporting a few hardware configurations.  It's easy to mock when you're only doing part of the job yourself - ie only supporting the newest systems in your latest os.

Except Windows does a lot of things that are easy to bash on.

For example:
My Windows laptop does updates when shutting down or restarting, which is normally not a problem.
Until it updated while I was in the airport packing it up to board a flight. It was ether let it update, or force the power off (which you aren't supposed to do).

I prefer how Linux handles updates, letting me start it when I want it.
