I did look at this but couldn't see much I'd actually use. However my attention drifted to the site the assets came from and I ended up spending £33 on a different chunk of assets pack instead. Having gone through them I'm still not sure if i have a bargain or not. Depends on what type of games I write to use them :)

@ Xerra
I personally do not like the "huge universal game asset" you linked. They look pretty uhm... basic and not that detailled (some of them look like a "photoshop pattern preset on a basic shape"). Also the images do not suit together (multiple sets - like top down, front chess figures, ...) so you have a dozen of genres but from each only a small useable subset (tanks but no environment, chess but no board, iso tiles but no iso units). Think the humblebundle-deal is the better (and most probably cheaper) one.

Of course only my opinion so if you like them and are having the money to spare ... then do this and the artist will be happier a tiny bit.

It was a bit of an impulsive purchase, I think now. Not sure I'm that keen on some of it myself but I'm only using it for stuff i tinker with and not games to try and sell or anything, so it's certainly better than anything I can do myself.

If you like to pay for assets and like  "rendered stuff" then you might tinker with Daz3D ("Poser") that way you could buy something you like "visually" but adjust (puppet master!) to your likes. I mean: breasts too small increase them, nose too long, shorten it. Other hat? place another one. Am not sure but Qube used it for the avatars in his alien game.
There is also a lot of free stuff available for these tools. And if you need some static props: open up Blender and toy around with it.

If you want to "tell stories" then such gfx might be enough for you.
Of course it won't work for non "NPC" stuff (tank games, racing games, ...).

Yes I did :) - I find Daz3D for creating characters a great tool. I don't really use it to it's full potential but find it very handy for static characters / poses and things like that. It's a lot quicker than modelling + texturing a character from fresh and has enough options to make it unique enough.

I mainly got into it years ago while working on a big update for my space game Galaxix. It was to be a huge update with online multiplayer and a story based career mode for offline single player but unfortunately had to be abandoned for various reasons.

Even these do look good, they are not for me, I'm not after that silky modern HD look, so I'll pass, but, for all that, the bundle is an absolute bargain mind! :)
