+1 for GraphicsGale and Affinity Photo. Best 2 apps I've ever used for all my gfx needs.

At the moment I'm using mtpaint which is free and I know how to use it. Will take a look at graphics gale to see what I think. The transparency works fine with mtpaint but can't seem to get it to work properly with the other programs I've tried. Thanks for the response.
