A competitor of AGK/Monkey/Monkey2/Blitzmax that I see rarely mentioned:

https://www.defold.com/defold/

I had a look at it a few years ago and the interface was impressive. I can only guess that it evolved even further.
I thought it could interrest some people...

(edit) Wow, look at the polishing level of that small html5 game made with Defold:

Yes, I heard good things about it. But don't get blinded by the awesome art. The game would look as good in many different tools.

Defold looks like a pretty good solution.  But I'm not crazy about the 'put stuff on our server' kind of thing and don't really trust the company behind it.  Any time something is free it makes me nervous, heheh
Platfinity (made with BlitzMax) on Steam:

LUA?  Hmm, I'd prefer a C++ solution - AGK has C++ and BASIC support.

Having said that, no system is perfect, just what is perfect for you.

True. But I talk more about all the level of polishing that I rarely see in such demos. Of course that's because the author is a real pro graphic designer but he also put some effort on coding details... which may be helped by the great UI of that tool (animations editor).
Personally I'm also cautious about such cloud engine but truth is that the result seems nice.

Apparently there is a way not to store your projects on their servers...

QuoteWhy do I have to store my games on Defold's servers?
You don't have to. Starting with Defold editor 2 you can store your games wherever you want. Defold was originally designed to be a complete turnkey service, including collaboration tools and storage. There are benefits to using our servers and we will continue to supply value to those who do use it through the dashboard. However, we realize that some users prefer other storage providers and we are working on supporting that.

If you are tech-savvy, there is a workaround available. See https://forum.defold.com/t/howto-alternative-project-hosting/1309[this HOWTO on our forum].

Same business model with PlayCanvas(2D/3D), but I think PC is better.
