It doesn't surprise me.  You only have to look at who they voted for around the planet.   :o

I agree, had 80% coverage here. It wasn't that special.

Well there goes a little bit of my hope for humanity.
I guess try to keep in mind that half of the population has below average intelligence. :-\

Well first things first it's reported by fox, so it should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Secondly with some people I could believe it. I've met a few in my time that would be considered 'one sausage short of a barbecue', and you tend to find that these types are either poorly or over educated for their own good.

Reminds me of a lad that I knew, he decided that he wanted to see what was inside a railway warning detonator cap and thought that a hammer was the right tool for the job: that in the end required a trip to Accident & Emergency. Then there is what you could call the over educated.

In one of my former trades, I worked for engine refurbishment company. One plonker that came in one day had tried to do some D.I.Y repair work on a diesel engine pump for a rather expensive 4x4 and made a point that he had a P.H.D. in some sort engineering. Didn't help him much, as anyone with basic knowledge would know that certain components on a motor vehicle require specialist tools and machine shops. The man was expecting us to put the pump back together, but the boss took one look at the parts and told him to go to the dealers and buy a new one.

We had 97% coverage here -- but the difference between that and 100% is massive

Anyway, just keep in mind: we all know how dumb the average person is, now consider that 50% of them are dumber than that.

There's nothing funny about solar spots on your retina, especially if they were caused by ignorance.
It's worrying that the proper eye-care info didn't reach those people, maybe more could've been done.

How was anyone supposed to know people would do that?

I'm sure our future AI overlords will have an answer

I could see it with a special mirror, although we only have 13 percent of darkness, cast it on a wall of the neighbor's house. It was nothing special, but for my daughter it was.

And let's not forget that the same key people are involved with both.
