Something I've seen from some of the most successful OSS projects is when leaders that know when they're worn out and are willing to pass on leadership to someone more dedicated. So baring this in mind, big projects can succeed. Another thing is to have something that no one else can do better. Lots of successful projects are born out of people getting tired of the status quo. SMF was born out of vBulletin's constant lack of security and price (at least in my opinion).
I'm insane and not in a funny or good way! nrgs.org

My post was not so *accurate*: I was refering to single-man project, not at community-project where the mass of developers can grant a result.

Adding this, it's quite clear what I'm pointing out in my *rant*

Ok, sunday, new day, new problems  :D

Have a nice day!

Ok, point taken. Then may I point you to thinBasic. Developed by Eros Olmni for a VERY LONG TIME (10-15 yrs I think). It's a BASIC interpreter, which is one of the fastest out there, has Powerbasic style syntax and a HUGE api. Despite that the community is super small, Eros is dedicated since day one and happy to help other users. He doesn't care for money, he loves developing his product and supporting others.
More and more of thinBasic modules are going to be open source and everyone is invited to help.
