Does anyone recall old VISTAPRO on the Amiga - oh, the hours it used to take to render a pretty good mountain range.

For a while.... I've been intrigued about creating a racetrack, kinda stuntcar racer style, simply from a .tcx file (GPS co-ords with lat, long and altitiude).

Had a brief stroll around Cadwell park yesterday, it was pretty bracing in the old wind chill. Thankfully the rain stayed off.

Quite pleased with the results, an old Blitz3D project is used to import and parse the data. Then, AGK takes the greyscale map and works its heightmap magic on it:--

I remember very well how slooooow it was, lol. I was amazed at what it did though so the wait was worth it ( back in the day ).

Cheers Qube, slowly cutting my teeth with AGK, in fact..... So slowly cutting my teeth I dipped back into B3D for the heightmap malarky.
