That's a good :) one of your best so far I'd say.
Mac Studio M1 Max ( 10 core CPU - 24 core GPU ), 32GB LPDDR5, 512GB SSD,
Beelink SER7 Mini Gaming PC, Ryzen 7 7840HS 8-Core 16-Thread 5.1GHz Processor, 32G DDR5 RAM 1T PCIe 4.0 SSD
MSI MEG 342C 34" QD-OLED Monitor

Until the next time.

While the characters are more or less drawn with "thin" lines the cave-spikes look like ... spaghetti lines.

You are already drawing digitally: why not add another layer (set opacity of the lower one to 50%) and draw the outlines with a clear stroke instead of these "scribbles".
I bet your artwork would look more clear, concise, toon-like.
Clear outlines have the benefit of not distracting the focus of the viewer to the spikes details (as it does now - with the unneeded details in the spaghetti-line-strokes).

The water "bright waves" (the bright areas) are smoothed lines compared to the very harsh gray-variant lines of the spikes. Might be a "foreground" + "faded background" thing but then the "Sea witch" or maybe "Mare-Maid" (if that exists, think it sounds cool) should be blurred/smoothed too. Without it is kind of a contrast.

Head of the witch is a bit skewed. Her chest is a bit .. "unnormal" (if you can say such a thing to a fantasy character). Talking about the part from abdomen to chest - kind of "bulgy" rib cage with a odd transition.

Aside of aboves critics: very nice scenery if you did not trace an existing one. There is a lot of potential in this scene and the color choice is nice, warm and kind of "subtle".
It might look well when scaled down but I would like to see a "re-contoured" variant of this. Proportions of the characters are also pretty suiting.
Take your time and draw "over" this scene. Take the next step.

Nice for an in-game screen I think.  8)
Derron mentioned you are using a digital paint app? Which one?

I personally am very impressed by this one (for PC): Verve Painter, which amazingly, is free. The tools and results remind me very much of DeluxePaint on the Amiga, but then way more advanced.

As a MS Paint replacement I use Paint.Net (also free), which has the advantage of layers and some other nice tools.

On my Android phone I have: ArtCanvas & Autodesk SketchBook, but haven't really used the later yet. Looks pretty similar though.

Thanks Qube, Derron and Rick.

Derron I see what you mean.  I simply try and improve a little each time with practice thanks.

Re tracing...the image itself isnt traced but parts of elements are kind of traced.

So the male warrior I used an element from the witcher game screenshot to get the pose.  The torso of the lady was from a reference of another piece sketched over.  The environment had a reference of a cave used for inspiration.

In terms of tracing.  With the pencil tool I sketch on a layer the outline of the silhouettes but then colour and shade with my own designs.  But I do not trace the entire element.  For example both characters hands and equipment are entirely different as is the hair and the tale is complete imagination.

The pencil tool more makes scratch marks to get the shape as I want it.

Rick I use paint.net because it is easy to use and mostly does what I want.  Re in game image agree I toyed with the idea of making an adventure game point and click.

I enjoy looking at this piece.

Painting done (on tablet with paint.net and wacom tablet) before dawn....

Matty

An actual painting - my first on canvas.

I wanted to paint this after having painted it with the wacom tablet.  It has meaning to me. The title is:
"Matt Lloyd has schizophrenia"

The reason for the title, even despite having no obvious symptoms for a few years now, is that the painting depicts the internal battle one has against a nameless, shapeless, chaotic foe.  I've used the analogy of 'cosmic horror' to depict the internal battle that is ongoing and forever a duel between two unequal entities.

Here it is:

Nice work. Could be straight from a computer game.

Ta Rick.

Painted another one last night after work (and a little this morning)...

Matty

Sketched in notepad on Good Friday morning at 11:30ish am sitting in the park. Added bits and pieces and shading etc afterwards between 1 and 3pm.

Will paint this one.

I like the theme behind it. Not sure yet whether the painting will be daylight, early evening or some other time of day...but a darker theme suits the picture I think, more than mere cloudy weather.

Matty

Water colour version - acrylic on canvas done later....

Rick Nasher

Awesome. Has this really dark game atmosphere, endlevel boss?
I'd put that in a 3d game.

Yeah, looking pretty good.
So.. when are you going to create this atmospheric Knight vs Monsters game?
