I really ...

This is not a rant or knock on godot, this is simply ones opinion on the game engine so if your reading this and decide to redbubble, then please just move along.. this isn't the droid your looking for.

I've always liked Godot for some strange reason, I however do not like their un-intuitive editor that seems to only be a work-flow stopper to me.

A game engine with the lack of terrains, terrain editor, no thumbs for media selection and only just support .fbx as a native format.

Another sore spot for me is godot-script. As it's primary language I find it hospitable. I'll never use an engine that does not concur with a mainstream language.  I know they support c# and probably c++ via extensions but their primary building language is gdscript and that's a huge turn off for me ala agk studio ( which has it's own problems as well ).

The command doc's take so long to find a simple syntax, you have to read through mountains of documentation to find some simple syntax. For example say you wanted to find a command for Entity:Position, it took me like an hour of reading to find this command/syntax.

It's really a pity as I would be a full time godot user if even half of the above was corrected but as it stands I choose to stay away, as each time I delved deep into godot I always left out with a sour taste in my mouth and hands full of aggravation.

Game dev should be enjoyable and fun.. Godot provided none of this for me.

I feel your pain, especially when it comes to documentation, it's one of them things that always gets to be left behind, never updated, an initial release of docs gets dumped, updated for the first fortnight, then that's it.

I understand why, because, well, it's probably the poo'ist aspect of any project, and as something grows, they become a monster, but good docs are indeed a blood line, you cut them off, people get tired, have enough and move on.

..first thing that got me, back then, regarding B3D was exactly this..fantastic, simple, straightforward documentation embedded in to IDE..Godot looks to me like a Blender, very powerful but you have to do some mental gymnastics to get to use to it, if came from 3dsmax/Fusion360 background..

Like, as a concept?  Because it doesn't sound like you like Godot much at all.  :)

But apart from the unintuitive editor, lack of terrains or terrain editor, thumbnailless media selection, fbx native format, Godot script, bad documentation and a lack of enjoyment and fun, it's great?   :-\

Yes. Now your catching on.

It is a game engine I think and not what I would want to spend time on. I've looked at it a few times and it's not what I would want to use. I'm gonna take a look at it again just as have not looked in a long time.

I took a look at it again and it did seem less complicated and maybe doable. Does Godot language allow goto / label ? Gosub / return ? Is Godot fast ?
Well I think for my purpose it would be a bit too slow for what I want it says it's comparable to python that is the GDscript and if you want faster then use c# or c++.
I just took a look and no goto / label .
That just about sums it up for me.  I might see if I can find an example of a game or two.
                  Happy coding
